I have a question,
One I feel will attract many different repsonses, so here goes.......
I'm walking down the road to the shops (not really relevent) i find a £50 note on the floor, no one is around.......
NOW......
I could take this £50 and maybe double it? if i do, great! i have £100
If i loose it, well, i didnt have it to start with so ho hum..... right? right?
I await repsonses

Hi damagedone, I'm sure everyone can relate to those irrational thoughts. Of course you had it to start with, it was right there in your hand!
Other irrational thoughts in this type of situation that spring to mind are:
"I found this note by chance, my luck must be in today."
"I no longer gamble, but this is a free bet therefore it doesn't count!"
Or in a slightly different scenario:
"So what if someone sees me take it? When I win I will just put the original £50 back."
Far too often impulsivity will cloud moral judgement.

Well my gambling mind at the minute would say go bang it in a slot machine and if I win take it if I don't the £50 was never mine in he first place. Although that's not a good answer, I want to say I'd take it and use it wisely, if that was the case I wouldn't be writing on here right now.

Maybe a normal person can be live it out that way, not a gambling addict, I know fully well that any progress I have made will all be down the drain, the moment I place my first bet. It will mean, I am now back to an active status. The 50 if I lose, will mean the gambling has entered my system, if I fought off the urge at that moment, it will consume me on the next one. If I win, great. It's worse, I will now feel I can play with this £100. It's free money. It's not. A win isn't free money, not for us, it's a loan, the interest for which is our entire existance, and life. We risk to lose everything. Not just our money.
thank goodness NT for saying hand it in to the police
imagine if that was your money how would you feel if someone took your lost money and didn't hand it in?
and askryan says situations like this affect our moral judgement. Is it worth £50?
