Im not talking about the obvious reason whyroulette as a game is rigged ie the odds work in favour of the house. Im saying this game is tottaly rigged it is not random it gives the appearence of near misses and also makes it impossible to hit big numbers. Its designers know how to extract every last penny from compulsive gamblers they are profiting from a serious illness. THE GAME ISNT RANDOM its compensated and therefore is fixed. The runs of bad numbers they give become ludicrous and they know no one can do anything about it.

Hi Seb,

First posted on here about 3 years ago and stayed off the demon roulette machines for a while then went back, stopped, went back, stopped, went back again and again and again........Have read many posts along the same lines as yours and YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT.They are totally rigged - designed to bleed players dry and roll that imaginary, hypnotic ball to land on all the numbers you haven't covered or the ones you've got a token 10p or 20p on and have you reaching into your wallet for another £20 note to feed in, then another and another and another..........Trouble is, we can rant and rave about it but they make too much money for the firms and the Government that they're here to stay and on the increase all the time.I've said this many times on here but I can have a bet on the horses and still love a day out at the races and I stop first and think 'can I afford this 20p lucky 15?' or ' is £5 too much to put on a horse to win? but the second I park my behind on a stool in front of the roulette machine, all rational thinking evaporates and it's bye bye a month's salary without giving it a second thought. I don't know if you've started a diary on here or not (and I know it's high time I restarted one) but the stark reality is that it's up to you and me and countless thousands of others to give them a very wide berth and get our lives back on track. The last thing I intend to do here is preach 'cause I'm still hooked and could write a book about the highs (not many) and the lows(too many to count) and the misery, tension, stress, strained relationships, unpaid bills and sheer chaos caused by that thought that you will get the better of them and win in the end - IT'S NOT GONNA HAPPEN - EVER!

Hi Kay

Thanks for replying, everything you said rings true here. Once i start on it its game over and im usually pretty rational. I bet 17 a lot amount of times ive seen 25 is unreal if i try and bet on that to it jumps somewhere else and this isnt me forming a pattern out of random events its just done to ** the player make you angry upset etc once you hit a certain emotional state its all or nothing and is very very often nothing.

Well i have to stop its becoming very damaging and is just junk. Well i hope we can stop together because we are a lot better than that horrible game theres a lot more to the world than a petty machine in a scruffy bookies

And yeah no one can beat them they have cleaned many out from many different walks of life.

Again Thanks for your Reply x

hi seb,

i m a roulette player also, 26 days bet free and i can write down my opinion about FOBTS machines.

roulette game is a game of loneliness.its just you and the roulette.the winner is most of the times the house.thats life.period.

so why do we play?we play to chase the losses?but it cant happen.no one have taken back his losses.we play to win?but after a big win we often go back and spend it again.so why do we play?for the buzz?maybe.we play because we want to escape from the real problems in life?perhaps.

the reasons most of the times are many.

what we have to do is stay away from roulette.thats the only way we can recover.then along with GA meeting, gamcare forum and our relatives we can fully stop gambling.no one has stopped gambling just at once.there will be relapses and there will be nights crying and sleepless due to gambling.its not easy my friend.the recovery is very very hard.

i lost over 7000 euros just in the last few months.money that i didnt have, i took a loan to gamble.but i ll not stop my recovery now.i m 26 days free and planning to be months, years bet free.i dont want to go back to misery

take care

mike

They're as rigged as fruit machines are in the sense that unless they've taken in tons of money they won't pay out.

Do bookies claim FOBTS are random ?

Personally i've always found roulette boring so don't play these.

Hi Mike

Thanks for sharing your experience with me and im glad youve managed to break the vicious circle of gambling.

Thats all it feels like to me just going round the same junk. If i lose i chase if i win i just play more at higher stakes its fast and i can quickly bust out. I work hard to earn my wages then i can blow it all so fast and yeah its lonely and devastating and affects important relationships in my life to. I think it will be hard to stop like you said but the other option of still gambling will be worse for me. Im just gonna take it a day at a time and hopefully one day gambling wont enter my mind. I have no control when playing roulette and it will tottaly ruin me if i carry on. Well i hope we are all successful in beating this problem. Thanks for replying to the thread. Take Care Seb

Hi fatuesque hope all is well

Yeah bookies do claim that fobt roulette is tottaly random they say once you hit spin a random number is generated and likea roulette wheel the game has no memory each spin is meant to be independant of the last so if someone had just put 3k in it its makes no difference to the next spin and if you pick 0 to come in it wouldnt matter if 20p or 15 pounds was on it if the random number genarater picks 0 you win. Basically its meant to play as random as roulette in a casino. They and the companys that run the games have to be regulated by independent checks on their randomness. But i just feel the machines dont play random theres more to them than that. But main thing i know is there not good for me and have seen many others get in terrible messes with them. I just need to focus on stopping

Fobts are not random to the contrary what the bookmakers tell the customers. In short gambling industry mislead punters left, right and centre and there is nothing the punter can do apart from quit gambling. Everyone here has two choices to play and keep losing money over time or to stop and spend their time and money wisely. It is not easy but if you keep tell yourself you will not win and find other things to do to use your time it will become easier. Gambling comes with a lot of baggage some you don't notice till you stop and life becomes better.

The only time i've encountered one of these roulette machines was when my friend went into gambling meltdown after he'd lost his mother in a car crash. He bet £50 in 2 minutes and lost it all. I think he still has a big gambling problem but as he's never got any money and lies to cover it up (always claiming he's "saving up" for something) i dont see him anymore.

Its quite a scandal if the bookmakers are lying on this scale to customers.

Fatuesque, glad to hear you find roulette boring - if your friend lost £50 in 2 minutes, just imagine what you can lose in 4 hours.I've been there and got lots of tee shirts! Thay are the only new clothes I've had in a long time cause I'm here again - 3 weeks to pay-day and pennies left in the bank with a loan to pay off at the same time. And so the vicious circle goes - payday rolls around and I just 'nip in' to see if I can maybe get a bit of a top-up courtesy of my friend the machine 'cause bad luck can't last for ever, can it? Fraid it can! When I stopped for months in the past, I posted on here about my re-discovery that I could buy quite a lot with that money and the pleasure of coming home with carrier bags full of everyday essentials like food and toiletries and that's the place I want to be again -nothing fancy - just spending my hard-earned on me and family and not handing it to people who are already millionaires - doesn't make a lot of sense, does it? I've often thought that if everybody just stopped playing these machines, what would they come up with next? Also, remember reading on here some time ago that they don't have any of these machines in Republic of Ireland but Irish bookmakers have thousands of them in British shops.I wonder why? Just a thought. Anyway, must stop ranting - it's getting late and need some sleep. Seb, have you started a diary on here yet? Haven't seen one but may just have missed it.

I have played these machines on and off for best part of 10 years - sometimes I have gone years without playing them and estimate a maximum loss of £6k in 10 years, maybe less.

I have spent plenty of time talking to people 'in the know' about how they work and apologies if I repeat something here you have read refore. When I say people in the know I don't mean those idiots who think they can predict what the number will be before you spin - you know the ones, never playing themselves as they have lost all their money 🙂

As soon as you hit the spin button the man/lady behind the desk can tell you if you will win or not - they can't tell you how much or what number just a yes or no. This is 100% correct as I have had it proved to me.

As for the randomness - when you hit spin the main machine sends 10 numbers down the line and the machine you are playing picks the one it wants. So yes they are random, but not totally random.

Most importantly it has been scientifically proved that people who get carried away with their gambling get a bigger buzz from a near miss than a win. Lots of research has gone into this and the evidence is very conclusive. Think about how often the imaginary ball stops one short of your number or one after ??

The machines are lethal and as mentioned designed to take everything you have.

Best you all stay away - you will never beat them long term - NEVER !!

Dave

I hate these machines. In the bookies or online roulettes are rigged. I've playe dthem when the screen has gone funny, the ball speeds up so just misses your number. I lost the other night so went to cancel my online account which I had just opened half an hour earlier. I lost £200 in this time. This is the response I got:

I am sorry to hear that you have not had a good experience in the Casino (unhappy face)

I can see that you have yet to claim the welcome bonus for your deposits so I have added that for you so you can try your luck on us (happy face)

Your welcome bonus £160 has been credited to your account I wish you the very bets of luck and remember to take a look at the terms and conditions of the bonus before you start to play.

Have fun!

I was shocked at this response. They shouldn't be able to do this! Also I believe the shops have a responsibility to not let people gamble or bar people. If you see someone (like I have done before) coming in and out of the door from getting more and more money from the bank with a face of desperation on them they should step in. Sometimes all you need is that 1 voice saying 'enough is enough'.

Hi to everyone

Well ive not played today and i live close to lots of Bookies as I think most of us do now. Its just a horrible game and I dont want anything to do with it. Im glad youre strong with your recovery Mike guess im on day one. And great idea Kay Im going to start a diary as i have relapsed easily before and I think sharing how i feel will help So Thanks.

The machines arent going anywhere they want more machines in and staff have to promote the machines particularly the Slots one well known bookies says

"Try Roulette - Fun at your Fingertips"

on there football coupon . Before i just wanted them banned and blamed that for relapse but carnt see that happening So its down to me to stay away and start a diary.

Take Care Seb
