I have recently been becoming involved with a buddhist based recovery program. There are several books by different authors. One is refuge recovery. I'm finding that it resonates with me. This is good. It's helping me to pick up the yoke and delve into 'doing' something for myself that will effect my entire life. It's been a while since I've prioritised recovery and I think this will make a difference. This is a very compassionate approach. Personally, I need that. But I also need to learn , investigate, put effort forth and relax/breath/let go. All these things. I appreciate this site and I wanted to share about this different take on recovery. I believe that there is something out there that will work for any of us if we seek it out. tara2
I've also heard of celebrate recovery which has a christian focus but I've not attended any of those meetings or read any literature. I have heard of the celebrate recovery working for people who tried other avenues that did not work as well. Life Ring and Smart Recovery are two other resources. I tried smart recovery & didn't stick with it... although i have no criticisms at all about the program. I think it was just not the right timing for me.
Yes, life has been challenging. Just happy to say that I'm still on the journey and I know that greater well being and peace are at hand.
