It is good to see the problem highlighted. It will be interesting to see how the storyline develops now Pearl has been rumbled from the point of view of what help is offered to her. The abuse of her employers trust was awful and it illustrated well the anger and betrayal felt by them.

Saw this one coming & not before time. Also caught a bit of 'Enders the other day & am pretty sure they're addressing it too! Let's see if the Soaps can do what the gambling commission have failed to & get the message out as to how this destroys lives!

Not sure how to go about suggesting they pop the advert in for future episodes or whether it's too late now...Anyone on here in Tv that can get this sorted?

Looks like the gambling storyline has fizzled out. A little disapointing the way it was handled to be honest.

Laurels alcohol problem will prob be dealt with differently. Could go on all year.

Goes to show its a difficult subject to handle. Every soap has a pub and its easier to broach that subject.

Harder to handle a gambling addiction storyline - cant have characters sat at a fobt machine losing hundreds but can show characters drinking themselves stupid in the pub or at home

Yes very poor. Always plays out that way. The gambler realises they have been a silly boy/girl & just stop! Simples. Terrible message to society about the addiction with the highest rate of suicide amongst all addictions for both the addict & the partners of them

Gambling addiction is viewed differently by the uninformed. They can't understand that a gambler just can not stop gambling.

Ask them about an alcoholic or drug addict and they understand perfectly well that the addict can not stop.

I never even thought of seeing this at the end of the episodes but some to think of it, it would have been nice. Her gambling addiction started at the same time as mine, I was trying to win my £100 losses back on roulette whilst she was too. My mum was aware I'd made the odd football bet lately but she was unaware of my £100 losses on roulette, and whilst Pearl was in trouble, my mum said "And that's what gambling does to you, get you severly addicted." And I just looked and said to my mum "Yeah I can bet" .. Whilst I was sat there with my iPad trying to win all my money back..

I think this coming week theres a storyline coming up with online gambling on Coronation Street... Carla

I'm watching Coronation Street now .. Look forward to seeing that storyline develop and pleased they're covering this story line to heighten awareness of problem gambling.
