I will update the list as it goes if something is not on there that you think should be. Post in the comments the name and a brief description so I can copy and paste to the first post
When I stopped gambling 4 months ago I found I need to fill my time to keep busy and fill the void that gambling and just as important to me the vast amount of time I would put into researching my next bet, until that went wrong then I would go on tilt for a while. I found watching box sets was great way to fill this void so thought I would pop a few I’ve watched down.
Feel free to add any ideas you have.
24 – This is the box set that started the so called binge watching, 9 seasons all different set around Jack Bauer is aagent of the Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU) agent Each season, comprising 24 episodes, covers 24 hours in Jack’s life, using the real time. A great watch if you have not seen it
Blindspot - A woman with no memories of her past (Jane Doe), is found naked in Times Square with her body fully covered in intricate tattoos. Each tattoo leads to a crime that she helps the FBI to resolve. Just watched the 1st season and looking forward to the next season start at the end of Feb
Brooklyn Nine-Nine -American police sitcom set in a New York City Police Department, episode are only short 20 mins. It’s funny in parts and they are lots of them to keep you going.
Code Black – A bit like ER it’s only halfway through its 1st season. Based in a LA hospital that always seems to be fighting to save lives, its started ok will reserve judgement on this one for now
Fear the walking Dead – spin off to The Walking Dead nowhere near as good but if you like TWD give it a try.
Game of Thrones – everyone said how good it was but never fancied. Gave it a try and loved it. Action packed fantasy drama, I don’t know how to explain it just watch it a must see for me.
Greys Anatomy –Based around a group of doctors starting their life in a Seattle hospital now they are the ones teaching the new ones after 11 seasons you do get to know the characters My Ex loved it and used to protest it was all a bit girly but I’ve watched the last season without her
Homeland – another US terrorist drama I watched the first 2 seasons but fell out with it but might go back and pick it back up
House of Cards – US Political drama centred on the Whitehouse lots of conspiracies and affair going on not a bad watch if that’s your thing
Luther – British crime drama series starring Idris Elba gritty and dark in places well worth a watch
Making a Murderer- it’s a documentary a true story about a guy who was wrongfully convicted of rape and gets released what happens next is unbelievable. You will watch the first episode and think how do they 9 more episodes but they do each one leaves you on a cliff hanger and more questions a must must watch. I can’t recommended it highly enough just watch it don’t read up on it
Modern Family - Three different, but related families make their way through life funny and you do get to know the characters again lots of episodes and only 20 mins long so ideal time filler
Narcos – tells the story of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar. Really enjoyed but lots of subtitles
Peaky Blinders - set in Birmingham just after the First World War a gangster family and there rise to take control of Birmingham only 2 seasons of six episodes but a new one is due soon I strongly recommend
Scandal – another US Political drama again the Ex loved this one. Olivia Pope is the main character the sort of person people go to get out of s**t she is classed as the best fixer around, but she has her own secrets and is in a few compromising positions with the US president
Sherlock – Another British on based on the famous books and films but brought more up to date. I really enjoy these the last one it Christmas was a bit of a letdown.
The Black List – The FBI most wanted man hands himself in and starts whistle blowing on the crime underworld but will only tell one FBI agent his secrets. One of the best Drams I have seem a must watch
The Goldberg’s – US sitcom set in the 80’s I watch this with my son and he loves it and I do find myself laughing away with him. Nothing better than a bit of laughter in your life
The Walking Dead – another one with lots of hype, I said it wasn’t for me but once I started I fired though the 5 seasons can’t wait for the mid season break to end. Another Must Watch
The Wire – Just started this so will update when I have finished
Aquarius - Been recommended to me but not watched yet.
Ash Vs Evil Dead – again been recommended to me but not watched yet.
The Big Bang theory(ODAAT) - American sitcom about like geeky Friends, funny.
The Following(Drew2002)- A brilliant and charismatic, yet psychotic serial killer communicates with other active serial killers and activates a cult of believers following his every command.
One (Drew2002) -Is one of the best Pilots you will watch - Hooked from the start.
Dexter (Drew2002) - Dexter Morgan, Miami Metro Police Department blood spatter analyst, has a double life. When he's not helping the Homicide division solving murders, he spends his time hunting and killing bad guys
Person of interest (Drew2002) -

As someone who doesn't have the patience to watch much. I can't agree more about ' Making a murderer' A big wow!!!! Also hidden in the film/doc is the delusion of ' holy than though ' addiction.
A good post you've got here Martin. Will take a further look when in right mindset.
ps, I didn't see Breaking Bad in the list
Shoot, you've got more time on your hands than me! .
Err, not sure if you've missed them out by mistake but no mention of The Big Bang Theory or Miranda on here :-0
Your probably going to come up with Friends next ODAAT вє
Ive done breaking bad forgot that and the Big Bang both crackers Miranda is not for me but my son loves it
ODAAT havr you watched making a murderer? It is a must watch
Nope, Modern Family was next...Friends is just the back up plan for when there is no Two & a Half Men on 😉
& nope, the only thing I watch these days is the inside of my eyelids & re-runs of House Doctor 🙁 I've seen that Making a Murderer in the planner but when it's alongside things like Marvel Superheroes (that I didn't watch when I was 3), Tanked & Gold Rush, I can't quite bring myself to encourage him! Hawaii Five 0 & NCIS Los Angeles are quite enough excitement/confusion for our team viewing!
Very good post ! Just what I was looking for something to take my mind of betting and keeping me occupied ! Cheers
Good one Craig. Yep, CHEERS is a good one too, where everyone knows my name вє
Very good list my friend - Lots of crackers in there - BB, TWD, GoT, 24, etc.
You should defo get back into Homeland, Season 4 is excellent.
I'll add The Following mate - Season 1 and 3 are brill - The Pilot of Season One is one of the best Pilots you will watch - Hooked from the start.
Dexter and Person of Interest are a few beauties too!

Nice one Oldhamktf. Its all about using our money to buy a good honest product or service again
I have just been glad to get back to my normality of buying some nice products I can afford and playing computer games
I can only think of some comedy box sets I have like Monty Python, Brass Eye, The Day Today, Family Guy, Ren and Stimpy, and Curb your Enthusiasm.
I need a good laugh after all Ive been through
Hi, read your thread a few days ago when I was on day 1 just after you posted and was intruged by the "Making of a Murderer" and o*g I couldnt stop watching it, watched the first 5 episodes that day then couldn't wait to get home from work on Friday and Saturday to watch the rest. Just finished it and then watched the documentary on sky ID about it. It took my mind off my last bout of post gambling feelings and any other gambling issues for sure. I didn't even think about the money I had lost which would have kept me awake at night, instead I was thinking about what was going to happen next. It's been a great topic at work also. I have you to owe for that so thanks it's helped me massively in my early days of recovery. Now to go and look for the next box set to watch.
THE SOPRANOS, BREAKING BAD, FIREFLY
