Previously I managed to control my problem life was good was goin on holidays got engaged to my long term girlfriend and started trying for a baby. Ever since we found out she was pregnant my problem has gotten worse and worse and I'm in a worsen position now with a baby due I n May it has never been this bad I can't leave the house without going for a spin when I win I don't take it and just lose it all it's destroying me and my relaahonship with my pregnant partner it's killing me I'm crying writing this thinking about it she doesn't even wan to speak to me I'm ruining my life again! I need help. Over the past four weeks I've probably lost 4500 I've had to sell my car to get money which would of helped towards bills but I then gambled it all. It has been the worse 2 weeks in my life and it's ruining what should be a happy time stressing my fiancГ©e out when she is pregnant its not good for nobody I know all this but I still cannot stop !

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Fobts were also my downfall, however it is possible to stop playing them.

Temptation to play is the biggest issue so take it away.

Never carry a card or cash on you when you leave the house.

Hand over all your finances for your partner to deal with.

Ask for money when it is needed and provide receipts for what you have spent.

Self exclude. Contact Gamcare. Go to GA. Do whatever it takes to stop.

No - it is not going to be easy and relapsing is not an option.

Easy to say I am stopping when the bookies are closed. More difficult during the day. Spend your money on baby things to help, but just do whatever it takes to stop.

Relax, breathe, take stock and take one day at a time. Don't run before you can walk.

Today I will not gamble. Today you will not gamble

Best wishes

Dear Lukeyb222

Have you called the GamCare helpline? We're on 0808 8020 133 - or you can chat to us on the Netline if you prefer. We'd like to make sure you at least have the opportunity to access all the support available to stop.

Best wishes

Hi luke, firstly I would say you need to want to stop. That means want it more Tha anything in the world. Want it enough to do whatever it takes to enter recovery. This may include self exclusion at the bookies, handing over complete control of your cash and cards, attending ga meetings, getting counselling via gamcare. If you aren't willing to take drastic steps and commit fully then gambling is simply too powerful. I talk from years of bitter experience before I finally committed to doing it right. Good luck

Hope everything goes well Luke. Read this thread at least some things in life are going in the right decision. For me life froze in 2002 when my fobt addiction started.
