Hello

I recently started Online gambling last August, because of the pandemic it gave me alot of time with myself and do stupid gambling decision,

I started with 20 bucks and winning over 400 and losing it all again the following weeks. I chase the lost and Guess what I lost 400 again and few more days and  I lost about 1000 on the site. This is more than I can afford and I was very depressed and it seems it changed my way of thinking. Dopamine detoxing is very Hard

I managed to stop gambling by watching other people loss money online and it made me feel I'm not alone.

But there is still a part of my brain saying I can still win big. a month had past and I started to gamble again I won back some of the money I gamble with and a day had past I lost all of the winnings. And back to the depression state again

I need help anyone there still a part of my brain that tells me i can still win big and that consumes a very large part of my daily time. I always look forward for payday and hope that i can gamble some of my hard earned cash.

Is there any medicine or techniques you can suggest to me please. It really consumes my time thinking of winning big in a casino.

Dear @robin555

Thank you for coming to our forum and sharing your story.

I noticed in your post that you refer to ‘bucks’ when you talk about your gambling spend. I wonder if you are living in the UK?

If you are, I would urge you to get in touch with one of our Advisers because as you describe your gambling and your triggers, I am certain that you would benefit from some advice and information. If appropriate our Advisers could discuss with you the possibility of a referral for treatment if you felt that would help.

Unfortunately, we are only able to make referrals for those living within Great Britain, but please know that there will be support available to you regardless of where you live.

If you live outside of GB, you may want to use this link to find services close to you -   www.gamblingtherapy.org/

We also have details of international services on our website - https://www.gamcare.org.uk/get-support/links-to-other-support-agencies/

Our Helpline number is 0808 8020 133 and our Netline is available through our website.

Kind regards

Jo

Chasing losses is like chasing lost virginity, it's just not possible, been there tried that more than once, always ended up losing more.

Stop now, forget about it, you will be fine.
