7 days today!!! Yey!
I had a serious urge last night but overcame it. I need to pay for a small holiday, my thought was, why don't I just get a bet to pay for it!!
It's 7 days today, so does it get easier or harder people? If I can make it to a month, it will be amazing!!!! I have never gone a month without gambling!
Well not much help at this forum. Had some serious urges last night and was looking for support tonight. I'll ho elsewhere with my comments. Maybe gambleaware have a better community.
Don't be disheartened Thegerman. It does get easier and the urges lessen. You are justifiably proud of your achievement. You can make it to a month and beyond.
I can't explain why you hav'nt had an earlier response from others on here. I get to the Forum as often as I can to offer encouragement and advice.
Stay Strong.
Stick with it mate - As Mr Stop says, it does get a little easier as the days go by - I am in 2 weeks now and nowhere near as bad as my first. Im sure there are many people on here that will give ou support, hang in there. Well Done!!
It gets harder, the 1st 3months or so are the easiest. Often referred to as the honeymoon period. People come to a place like this when they are low, they have no money left, they are angry with the addiction for letting them down. For most those feelings change, finances always improve when not in action, people convince themself it wasnt so bad, that they can go back in a controlled manor. They believe a lie, they believe they are cured
Hi
I am sorry to read you feel a bit disheartened at this time, can I suggest you start a diary in the recovery section, where your posts will be easier to see, to respond to, also why not join the 2015 challenge it's a good way to stay focused and not feel alone, as we are all one team on there.
I wish you the very best on the start of your recovery, and you already have one week under your belt, well done, stay strong and keep going forwards.
Best wishes.
Suzanne xx
Thank you for your kind words. It really makes a difference. 8 days today!!
When I get going into double figures, I want to help people. Until I prove myself, I can't!!
The race is on!!!
Well done thegerman and keep going.
Peace of mind is a wonderful thing and i hope you are enjoying it.
Its important we feed back into the site to offer continueing support to people who are doing well and give advice to people who are in a haze of gambling with no one to turn to.
Your experiences and gamble free advice could help someone get off this rollercoaster and at the same time assist you in your recovery.
Such a great feeling when someone understands your problems and stand beside you as you face your demons.
Thegerman what's your story? I was betting for 18 years and have somehow done 137 days without a bet.
I used to bet hundreds on football and tennis mainly online and had some huge wins accompanied by bigger losses. I tried to quit a few times but it wasn't until I told my family and admitted my serious money problems that I was able to quit.
You can do it my friend

i understand your frustration when u are having an urge and there seems to be noone round on here. i was really really bad last week and couldnt get to anyone. its a shame the live chat is rarely available. for some reason i cant start an new thread either so feel like im constantly jumping on peoples posts!!. people DO eventually get back to you though so stick with it. you are doing well at 8 days. im only on day3 but this forum is keeping me focused and determined. i wish u well on this journey. we can ALL do this xxx
My story mba is that I have bet thousands on football. Foreign games, I bet £500 on a win with 10 mins to go. Stuff like that. I won big and lost bigger. It is not the way forward. House always win!!
I am beginning to see it now. But I need to check this forum everyday for updates.
The icing on the cake was losing two huge bets £1500 on cricket and I know nothing about cricket!
I have to stop, my life needs to get back on track. I'm alone in the house tomorrow night and so I need to keep myself busy and not thinking about gambling. 9 days today! Never done that before!
I hope your.ok tonight thegerman and staying strong? X
Hi JW! Yes I am sticking it out. 10 days! Aim for 20 now! Had a great day with my baby daughter. I look at her and know that I need to be a role model for her. It begins with good money management. I find this forum excellent for silencing my demons. It is a great place to learn from others.
well done!! im using these forums alot this week and its gr8 to see people doing well. i was on day 4 today but got cocky and threw money away in the bookies machine. im disappointed in myself bu strangely feel more confident because of it. although i spent the money i had in my purse, i didnt chase it by going back with more. i didnt leave myself in debt which i usually do, and im kind of pleased i lost else i would ony have got back on it. it taught me just because my mood is better, my addiction isnt!. lesson learnt, onwards and upwards. keep going and enjoy your evening. keep thinking of your baby girl and reasons u can do this. good luck x
Well done thegerman.
You are doing really well keep strong and put blocks in place and you'll reap the rewards. .
