I set a goal in December on these forums (2nd of December) to never bet again as I was £2000 in debt.
This has now gone out the window, I have been in debt now since around August 2016, I am now in £6500 debt and not sure where to go from here, I have bills to pay & things to pay to make sure I can work & get to work, at the moment my bank balance is £0
I have payday loans with four different companies, I get paid roughly £1100 after tax per month. Im really not sure where to go from here if im honest, I have thought about running away but I do not want to get into trouble, - I am not that person.
Can someone please advise me on how to get out of this mess? I tried the gambling block softwares in the past, but sadly you can just turn them off whenever you like it. there needs to be something better out there for someone addicted to gambling that bad like me.
I am 24 and my life is in ruins already. I have no future at the moment.
my credit score must be appauling, its going to take me years to sort this mess out
Hi mate. I was where you are probably less than 6 months after I started gambling (debt wise) and managed to gamble for 7 years after so believe me when I say it can get much worse if you don't stop now. Id say I have in the region of 50k of unsecured debt which ive never attempted to pay back and as for my credit rating, well, I cant even get a bank account! I have come to terms with this and realise ill probably never get credit again and I am ok with that. I had monthly payments totalling over 1K and unfortunately I did run away from it, opened a new bank account and had my wages go into there. Then I rinsed and repeated this with just about every high street bank there is. This was all before anyone ever knew about my gambling and I had kept it a secret for 7 odd years. These days my wages go directly to my partner and she handles all the finances. If you are able to do this and you don't handle cash in your job you will be able to eliminate your ability to gamble overnight. You can then focus on recovery to achieve a solution long term.
