Hi I am new to this forum and have come on here as a way of offloading as I feel I am not coping. I have been a problem gambler for nearly years, my addiction has had its ups and downs but never been as bad as it is at the moment. I am going through a really stressful experience which I do not really want to go in to but the situation has completely broken me and the last few months have been really tough. Every time i get any money it all goes on gambling - slots to be exact, online and in the bookies. I have been living on very little food for 4 weeks now and am only buying the bare essentials because all my money is going on gambling. I am constantly borrowing money off friends and family and that usually gets gambled aswell. I really want to wipe the slate clean and making something of my life. I have just started a new business self employed and its going really well. A real chance to make something of myself, but I cant help thinking gambling will always ruin anything good that I have. Advice & Support appreciated

Hi fisher and welcome to the forum :)) .

You know what I'm gonna say " It has to stop my friend " ! . You have to find the strength and courage to draw a huge line in the sand and jsut say "no more " simply because unless you change thing's nothing will be any different tommorow .

The Fobt machines in the bookies were alawy's my downfall and I've ;lost thousands chasing after that so called big payout of £500 and now coming up for a couple of years gamble free I can see how stupid my actions were but at the time and just like you are all I was intersted in was pumping more money in to get my fix or buzz .

It even stops being about the money in the end all you want to do is play and any winnings or borrowings as I like to call them are just used to keep playing , we don't actually spend winnings on anything really !

The good news is that you can make things better quite quickly if you set your mind to it and stick around , there's lots of good advice about keeping your "Time , Money , location triangle broken " so if you remove one then you can't gamble , make access to money difficult , self exclude yourself in bookies and online and install blocking software on your phone/computer .

If you need any info then just ask either here or speak to gamcare who will also have the information :))

I look forward to speaking to you soon but until I do stay safe my friend :))

Hi Fisher,

It's great that your excited about your new business. You turn your attention to this opposed to gambling.

I agree with Alan you can make things change for the better it you set yout mind to it.

I said this on the forum before but work out who you want to be. I repeatedly ask myself what would the person I want to be do. One thing is for sure is the person I want to be wouldn't place that bet.

All the best
