To best facilitate time off/shift swaps for G.A. meetings and therapy it would be best to inform my work of my addiction. This would involve an honest conversation with management, written up and signed.

I am loath to do this.

please, thoughts and opinions...

I would list the days and times, and say that for medical reasons you can not work during these time periods.
Im sure they would be understanding without going into it personally.

If that wouldnt work, i would ask doctor consult your doctor and explain your situation, and that you need to attend these meetings. Your doctor could help you write a medical note of kinds explaining that its in your best interest not to work during these times.

The reason why i suggest not to inform your work, is that it could affect your career future, promotions.

This is only what I would personally do, and is only my own opinion.
