I’m not going to go into great depths about my difficulties with this. Anyone who wants to know more about my situation can look at my previous posts. All I will say that things got much much worse since my last post on here.

However I’m glad to say that I’m now out of it and am the happiest I’ve even been. I’m no expert in gambling but my own observations are that it’s a very cyclical addiction, transporting the subject into an almost completely different world where very little else matters — the thoughts themselves about gambling I believe to be one of the most destructive elements. The pre occupation with winning, the idea that all your problems can be solved by doing X, Y, Z is particularly seductive.

My advice to anyone is to BREAK THE CYCLE! The sites your used to logging onto. The bookmaker you always use. The slot you play. Whatever it is you just need to break the cycle.

As in my case I had to hit absolute rock bottom to stop. But now I have, I can genuinely say I have no interest in gambling whatsoever. I have stopped for long enough now that the cycle has been broken and I can see it for what it is — a complete and utter con. The bookies are in the business of selling dreams and nothing more. Whether that be massive jackpots, big accumulator wins, lottery wins it’s all just convincing people to put their entire lives on the line to chase something that doesn’t exist.

However desperate, in debt, hopeless you feel now I PROMISE with every ounce of my being that if you quit gambling today you will find happiness. You will be content and you will most importantly get your life back. It might not happen for a month or even six months but it will happen.

Break up the cycle and go for the biggest jackpot of them all — quitting and quitting for good.

Well done for over 800 days. I have been watching sports today and have some urge to put a bet. However, I will never forget the lowest feeling when I was betting and ruining my life.
