Hello everyone. Im not very good at making posts so forgive me if it looks random rambling.

I am disgusted with TV advertising, and do not agree with it one bit. I see the advertisement for what it is...

Enticement to gambling

It makes me sick every time i see this, I really dont think its ethical to be advertising something that has a percentage (no matter how small) of addiction. In the same regard to drinking adverts, I do not agree to these either. Im sure that someone who is currently suffering from a drinking addiction would not like to see drinking commercials on tv. It does not really matter if they add "Gamble responsibly" or "drink responsibly" to their advertisements. If it encourages people to live the life that I lived, I would not wish that on anybody.

I remember the damage that gambling has done in my life.
I remember how it started, I remember how it developed and manisfested into the dark days of my life.
Wages spent withing 2 hours of payday.. I remember and will never forget.. The 9 years of my life which could have been so different.

Im in a better place now. I have not gambled in about a year now, a feeling of 'what happened to me back then' and 'what was going on in my mind to do that'.
However I am not Naive to think I am cured, it will always be a part of me and hope I never fall victim to the urge to gamble again.

The ads personally make me stronger as Im very angry about it.. but for people who are struggling and trying to break free from gambling, I could see the harm and damage advertising could do and Im very angry at the companies tactics to try and recruit gamblers to further their profits.

Also, dont agree to stuff like ***popular daytime tv show***. with "Sponsered by **** bingo" with a song and dance being played every 5 minutes during the day, its annoying!! Especially when that program is supposed to help people with their problems. I would tell ***popular daytime tv show*** to get a more respectful sponsor.

Random Rant over

And for everyone that is reading this.
Be Strong. Choose Happiness

(Ps. Placed **** to not name companies)

I totally agree with you. I am having counselling for my gambling addiction and I told my counsellor that I find it quite difficult to see the constant gambling adds. My counsellor agreed and also told me to notice how many payday loan adverts follow the gambling adverts. It is disgusting how much gambling addicts are exposed to pressure from media. I don't know what the answer is but I think all we can do is to try and remain strong. I wonder how many people have been drawn into this dreadful addiction by seeing these adverts and thinking how much fun a little game of bingo would be?

I agree with you both that the amount of advertising is out of hand but ultimately we have to live the real world and somehow cope with it. Remember why those adverts are used: to entice more suckers into losing their money. You don't have to be one of those people, you can take another path through your life and escape gambling. That is a hugely positive thing to do.

Also, the money they pay to have their adverts during the football matches are sky high. Probably the most expensive slot.

Whose funding them? We are.
