just been browsing the Gamcare website and apparently it's national gambling aware week. Must be good sign I've not noticed the extra posters in shop windows. Apparently they have had drop in centred all week I different parts of the U.K. Most have been and gone but there is one a Manchester town hall tomorrow between 12-5. Might pop in on my lunch tomorrow see what its about
Strangely enough, nope...Just asked the good Dr Google & front page just comes up with 2014 stuff! Anyone would think it's just lip service :-0
Did see some new posters in C0rals window underneath the " When the fun stops " it said " Only spend what you can afford " , usefull I thought and clearly shows where I went wrong :(( .
Shoot Pops, if only they'd had them when we were still in the game eh 😉
In detecting a bit of sarcasm is some of these posts lol. I meant to look in the shop windows in the 7 bookies I pad on my way home to see if we had any new posters but I walked passed than all and forgot to look. When I first stopped I looked in every window and thought that's got a chance. Let's hope the people still in there see them and do something but if what Al says I doubt it will make a difference.

Yes its all the wrong wording and the wrong angle in a half hearted attempt to seem caring and responsible
"When the fun stops... stop" is almost a meaningless statement in the light of a gambling addiction. I dont class it as "fun" in that sense and "stop" takes no account of the chasing and the absolute power of a trance addiction
Same with "gamble responsibly" which takes the most irresponsible thing you can do with money and tries to turn it into a soundbite thats its all under control with a click of the fingers and the gambling industry are very responsible for telling you this golden nugget of information.....careful now 🙁
See its that easy...you just gamble responsibly and everything is fine and dandy. Why didnt we think of that eh. 🙁
They are very carefully worded to subdue the warnings and the reality of gambling
....oh and the limits which seem to be self regulatory ( ie I just ignored them as wasted seconds of time on the screen). Seems you could start again after reaching the limit anyway so I see little point is that being classed as a control method.
Dont get me started on gambling aware week
What I will say is the gamcare forum is good and I dont knock this avenue of help for problem gamblers
