Boom - 50 Days team.......what an achievement 🙂

We have got this far through supporting each other, a bunch of strangers with a common purpose.

Thanks to our bandleader Mixer - Lets bang the drums loud today in celebration as we reach the halfway mark.

Smile, be proud and stay strong

*** ROLLCALL OF HONOUR *** We're delighted to see Dsh hit the 50 day mark yesterday - very well done on this very important milestone! I know that you regularly check in, Dsh, and that you are really up for this. You're doing great 🙂

Thank you everyone for your updates and/or updating your diaries, and also your kind comments. We're a great team, supporting each other, and in good humour and spirit - that's what it's all about!

So... if you have been with us from the start, on 14th Dec 2016, then collectively 17 of us have been resolutely Gambling Free since then. That is a fantastic achievement, given that our personal GF totals all exceed 50, and demonstrate that, when we get the support we need, put into place practical measures, take substantive steps to sort our finances where necessary, look at what we can do in life rather that what we can't, we can make a HUGE difference to our own lives, and, indirectly, other lives that we care about. We deserve a moment, as Sbb rightly says, to pat ourselves on the back today. As Sbb also said - and I've never forgotten this - look back, reflect - but don't stare. What really matters is ahead of us.

We have had some members who have joined us since the challenge started and have remained resolutely gambling free. Again, my same thoughts above apply and however many days you've been GF, well done indeed. Keep it going. Are you really thinking of gambling this weekend? No, I didn't think so.

For those of us who've had a wobble but and had the respect for our group to tell us - we appreciate your honesty and also want you to stop, in fact redouble your efforts to stop. You've had a practice run, or, rather your LAST practice run. Please do your utmost to grit those teeth and stick with it. If you're feeling weak, phone Gamcare, chat to a trusted friend, write a post on here, join in the webchats, do anything you can to resist putting on one bet and spending 1p. We are all so determined for you, you wouldn't believe it!

So, this is an important milestone for all of us, as it happens. Every extra day being GF is a wonderful day and we should embrace what that means - no guilt and acting furtively because of the embarrassment of wasting money, using the time we are saving to do much better things, and more money to do some of those things with, but, perhaps, most importabntly, becoming better people and regaining control of our lives.

The next 50 days, or more than 50 for just over half of us, beckon, one day at a time. We are 33 strong. Will we see 33 of us cross the finish line? We can do it, team, one day at a day. Let's not slip up. We don't have to slip up. We have the control. We don't have to gamble, you know! Day by day, whatever the provacation, and goodness me, some of us will have some really bad days, but: we will say to ourselves: "Today, I'm not going to gamble. I'm thinking of me, those I care about, our group here, my life, my future, my happiness."

Day 51 (or whatever day you're up to) tomorrow. Just another day? Not at all. It's another GF day. Far, far more valuable... 🙂

KEEP GOING EVERYONE and KEEP POSTING - we all read your posts because we all care - let's keep sharing our GF acheivements !!!

P.S. As you know, Gamcare hosts webchats on this site, a great way of meeting fellow recovering gamblers like us. I did read yesterday somewhere on this site (from Rebecca from Gamcare) that they are trialling a Saturday afternoon webchat, from 2-3pm, from next Saturday and weekly thereafter. Great news if you find the weekend extra difficult GF-wise. Just thought I'd let you know 🙂

*** JOKE OF THE DAY ***

My wife asked me what I was doing on the computer last night.

I explained to her I was looking for cheap flights.

"I love you!" she said, and then she got all excited, quickly undressed and we had great nookie ......

Which is odd because she's never shown an interest in darts before !!
