This has been asked before. The general feeling is that he got fed up with the forum, due to the attitude a few on here showed towards him. If not, then there's a darker reason for his absence.

Considering he's put more effort into this forum than any Gamcare advisor, it might be appropriate if one of them contacted him to enquire as to his welfare. I'm sure a little concern for the forum's MVP wouldn't go amiss.

I have wondered were james P was. Like you said tmlc he put more effort in than the gamcare advisor. I have been on this site for 2 years and I have seen how he helped a hell of a lot of people and the forum is not the same without him giving advice to the new people who come on here

Hope your ok james P

I'll second that. JamesP really helped me back in 09. It took me months of lurking on Gamcare before finally having the guts to post. JamesP's advice to others gave me the confidence to speak my mind without fear of judgement on such a delicate subject that most of the 'public' don't understand.

I also understand though that you get to a place in your recovery after years of abstaining whereby it's not helpful to remind yourself day-in-day-out by reading about other people's issues and just need to make a fresh start. Sometimes we have to put ourselves first.

Anyway, I hope you're doing good if you're reading this JamesP.

Also, I think out of respect Gamcare owes it to him and the hundreds he helped to let us know that he's ok.

Dear Forum Members

We can appreciate that it causes concern when a member no longer continues to post and you may wonder if that person is ok.

Unfortunately, people do make their own decisions to post or not, and sometimes do choose to leave the forum for a variety of reasons. It can be hard not knowing what this reason is, for all concerned.

It's good that you felt you had some benefit from JamesP's contributions - hopefully other members here will continue with that.

In terms of adviser contribution here - the purpose of this forum is for peer to peer support. It wouldn't be right for advisers to post too often as this would take over the space. We try to post where we feel we can help, or to try and resolve difficulties between members.

Best wishes

I haven't been here in a while and was planning on a visit mainly to express gratitude and respect to JamesP (as well as wondering how he could take the strain of responding, so many times, to so many people needing to hear his words).

If you can fw a short message of appreciation to him, so much the better. Otherwise I'll just let it rattle around the aether here.

Thanks JamesP for your selfless kindness to me and many others, and for making lives better around you.
