Hi guys,

I am feeling really low at the moment......I have made good progress, stopping gambling for about six weeks. Sadly, I have recently relapsed and lost £1000. Where is this problem going to end? I am running out of options here and I really don't know what to do! I have done the following:

1) Self excluded from all local gambling establishments

2) Installed gambling software on my laptop

3) Cut up my debit and credit cards

4) Had hypnosis

I have tried so hard and put so many barriers in place.....I just feel emotionally exhaused and I don't know what to do.

Thanks for taking the time to read.

o*g 6 weeks...That was incredible & this is but a slip!

Unfortunately it sounds like you are a compulsive gambler & it appears that we have to live our lives fighting this disease so the urges may never stop, you will just get better @ fighting them. You don't say whether the barriers were in place when you slipped but somehow you managed to have Time-Money-Location to do so & that is what needs to be broken until you can mentally manage that for us there is no control.

Don't be disheartened, almost 6 weeks is an incredible amount of time & you did it once so can do it again & then build on it...It is this relapse that has bought you here so you know your gamble free life was a better one!

That money has gone & you must let it go & move on, you can do it - ODAAT

Hi 29gamguy

I really feel for you especially after you staied away for 6 weeks. I have done in the past the same like you, cutting up all my card, excluding myself from all my online accounts, etc. but after months and months I started again. Sometimes is so hard when you walk on the streets and see all the betting shops, getting home and see all those adverts on tv - feels like a new online casino is opening every week. Its hard to stay away but you have to stop. It has to come into your mind and admit that your problem is serious, and with the help that you can get from here and your loved ones you will do it sooner thatn you expected.

Good luck!

Maybe try to think what triggered the relapse - boredom? complacency? then use it as a way to avoid similar situations happening again perhaps.
