On to the next day.  Really starting to look forward to going back to work next week.  Need something to focus on.  I think we really need our work to give us some purpose.  Im going to try really hard to get to top physical health this year.  By starting back at work i can look to improve my shoulder again and get the support it needs.  I really am rambling now.....need to get back to work so i can get some normality....All the best adam

202O: has been great, plenty to be thankful for, covid definitely caused a lot of strain and heartache but we got thru it.... I managed to achieve all of the objectives apart from eating meals with friends (as covid allowed), I kept my health high and stayed employed.

On to 2021:

I'll write my objectives out today but my main new focus will be on my weight and physical health....I'm going to strive to lose my stumach, get my shoulder up to full strength again, carry on exercising with my mum to keep her as active as she can be and keep our bodies and minds as healthy as can be.

With this in mind I will be doing my physio work plus walks and work to start with then around march when instructed by physio I should be able to get into the gym again....

So to keep my mind stress free I'd like to go to health suite again this summer after work to relax maybe add a swim to that or a gym visit.

This is all dependant on my recovery of the shoulder plus covid restrictions.....

I feel my physical health is my last objective to work towards to get a healthy mind and body, I've taken out life's vices I had and added the healthy parts of life.... Drugs, smoking, drinking and gambling have been big parts of my life and now ive changed my lifestyle for the better.

I also would like to help towards the environment which is close to my heart.  The earth is soo great and I feel we have neglected it....I'm going to try to ride on by cycle to work when sunny in summer to cut down my carbon footprint.  I have just been buying clothes from charity shops to stop waste but now I feel I have enough clothes and will not buy any this year unless I really need them like new shoes or something, I feel we are in a throw away time and there's only soo much of this we should do.  Recycle as much as possible thru work and at home...

Those are my main objectives for 2021, I'd really like when the covid restrictions are gone and we've all had our vaccine to enjoy the freedom we all take for granted... Visits to pubs with friends for meals or watching a big footy game, of course the Euros football are on this summer so that will be a big part of my year so will look forward to that.

All the best I hope everyone on the forum has a great 2021 and I hope I can achieve all of this? If I can I will mark it as better than 2020 which will be a tall order as 2020 marked the first year I was able to control all my vices and it made me soo happy as a result.

In 2020 I did however have some low mental health moments when I sunk into depression, the folks on here, my mum and dad and friends got me thru to when I saw the light and my mood lifted once again, so if ur feeling down remember in the future you're mind will clear and those dark thought clouds will pass.... Just try to stay strong and be patient.

All the best I'll start these objectives now with my excercizes and a celebratory cuppa...  Tonight, Christmas and new years eve I will celebrate and toast to this new way of living its helped me soo much so far....

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL MY FELLOW GAMCARE FRIENDS!!!!

Had a zoom call with some friends tonight, lots of chocolte, pringles, 2 cokes, coffee and now feeling the sugar rush still.  Was great to see everyone.  Its one of their 40th birthday next saturday so although we cant do anything in the flesh hopefully we will see each other via a zoom call for some drinks....

Its been a funny year really, started off with a bang i went to the gym with my mum most weekdays in jan and feb and played football on tuesdays.  Then the football accident on the 11th of march (the night spurs also got knocked out of the champions league), i went to hospital and got the dislocated shoulder back in....then felt the pain over the next few days.

Then the day after sitting at home boris announced the country would go into lockdown with the outbreak of covid.  I spent the next month at home, sun bathing in april, walking and doing my exercises.

I then got told that i would need an operation to help my shoulder and there was a six month wait for it....

Worked thru those six months and done the exercises.  In those six motnhs we went thru various types of lockdown, wearing masks all the time at work and socially where possible.  I didnt really see friends thru this year apart from the odd coffee when i really felt i needed some company.

In late october i was phoned by nhs to say i could have the Arthroscip stabilisation operation on the tenth of november.  I had it and then stayed in sling all day everyday for six weeks, then started to rebuild the strength in it after thru exercises.

That brings me up to this evening, new years, i will go back to work on monday and work on my shoulder strength and flexibility.  Looking forward to getting stuck in (work wise) not at home hopefully and getting back into the swing of things.

Really glad to say that all of my vices are under wraps now, no drinking, no gambling, no smoking, no drugs, totally tee total and i feel if one was to break the rest would follow.  My skizophrenia is largely under control, i had an episode in august but managed to only have two sick days off work due to it due to having holiday thru that time.

This year i spent my holida in the summer going to the beach in shoreham with my family which was lovely and got a nice ttan.  I think id like to do that again next year.  So with that in mind ill take four weeks of my six weeks holiday in the summer months and take advantage of the weather.

I like all of my objectives for this year.  But before i embark on trying to achieve them i think tonight was a relaxation night to celebrate what ive achieved in 2020 and look forward to another hopefully great year ahead.  Entertainment on tv tonight was great we allways put on a great show don't we....

So before i go to bed ill say thank you to all who have supported me thru this year i wouldnt have got hear without you, Al, Bal, Stace, Lou, Kim, Scotty, Oldham, Kimburger, Lost, Toad, Drama, to name but a few, u all have helped soo much and u mean a lot to me......

Lets celebrate a great year and bring 2021, where we can hopefully get closer to friends and family once again and enjoy our freedom and this country which we sometimes have grown to take for granted.

Back at work Monday and can't wait to put some shifts in and brush the cobwebs off so to speak.  Glad to see deano on site again and Vinnie hitting her year mark.  Not glad to see Lou in some distress lately but glad she's getting help and in the right place in hospital.  Now Stace seems to be being too critical on herself, she's coming on the site everyday, has all the possible blocks and puts the effort in, I think she should take a look back at her diary and read of all the effort she is putting into it, if she does that she will see she is succeeding.....

Hi Adam

Once again congrats on everything you're achieving. You've gained so much strength and you're a true inspiration to others on here. Not just for the gambling addiction we all have but also for the body, mind and health. I started jogging again on 28th and hoping to gain some fitness back for when my season restarts and lose a bit of weight that I've put on in the last year in my dark place!!

You're a very kind person and glad you look out for others on here.

I always say it but thanks to everyone for my recovery.

Keep going Adam, keep posting. We are all focusing and taking on board your words and actions!!

All best

Deano

Thankyou Adam, it's hard when I'm being knocked down by others but I'm trying. And Wil continue to try. I'm not the first person to keep relapsing and won't be the last, doesn't mean I can't still support others ☹️ and I won't stop supporting them.

That determination reminds me of what got me to the first six months gf period in 2018 stace, i was knocked down soo many times by gambling and the want to play poker far exceeded my ability to stop, then some hard advice on here and i thought u know what this gambling is really stressing me out.... i had six weeks off work then thought u know what its over no more and managed six months without gambling or drinking.....  I truelly believe ur determination is making u gamble less now and ur here helping others so its great.
