Hi change thanks for checking in on my channel. I have to agree that sleep becomes much easier when gambling isnt our every waking thought. Even the stresses i am also experiencing in my life are still more productive than thoughts of gambling. It just means we care about what is going on in our lives again and we arent emotionally numb like when we gamble. Best of luck 🙂
Day 5 today and coming off couple of very stressful days plus footy fixtures. Just need to stay focused.
I WILL NEVER GAMBLE AGAIN.
Thanks Not Again and Bob. We're going to do it this time! No more gambling!
Day 6 underway and still no gambling. Just trying to watch a bit of footy now and hoping I can enjoy it for what it is.
Good to hear your another day gamble free Change 🙂
Im not a big football man but i always used to have a gamble on the matches so i dont really miss not watching them. Hopefully you can enjoy them all the same without a gamble. Put it this way youve already won these past six days because you havent wasted any money filling the bookies big fat pockets.
All the best
Yeah I like thinking like that as well... I won for 6 days so need to keep going. Thanks for stopping by again. Need to watch out for each other and we'll know if not on here for a few days then it's doesn't look good.
Looking forward to Day 7 arriving in a couple of hours. Need to stay focused and get through another week.
Yes mate definately good idea keeping each other in check, Im nearing day 10 myself. At the GA meetings they always say just to concentrate on making it a gamble free a day at a time and thats my aim right now.
Have a goodun
Hi Change, sorry to hear you're going through such a stressful time! it's good that you end your post by stating that you're never going to gamble again, stay positive!!
Debra
Thanks Bob and Debra - yes an amazingly difficult time. The most challenging thing I think it is possible to go through. Every day at the hospital. I appreciate people checking in on me and like to reciprocate as best I can. I think it's the only way to beat this.
I've also just put myself on a diet as I was eating junk to get me through it. Snacking on raw carrot and cucumber is not pleasurable. I've started cycling a lot more and that can ease the stress. Just got to do what it take to (a) get through the day (b) not gamble (c) try to do (a) and (b) in a healthy way. Really really tough.
I WILL NEVER GAMBLE AGAIN.
On the diet side of things Change it doesnt alwlays have to be boring. Im a chef myself and as bad as it sounds, i dont like to do my job at home ha. I subscribed to Graze you might have seen the adverts and while they arent particularly cheap, they offer a varied choice of healthy fruit and nut variations which u can mix each time u buy it and they post it direct to your door for convenience. Plus compared to money ive wasted feeding a machine with colours on the screen, it doesnt seem so bad ha.
Thanks Bob. I've been buying nuts, dried fruit and seed packs from Lidl as they're quite cheap and lots of different options. They are still quite high in saturates depending on some of the varieties but great for snacking if just have a couple.
Just done an hour long cycle to hospital on no breakfast and just with a coffee before leaving. Probably crazy but theory is that as eaten nothing it starts burning off the fat stores. It's probably all wrong and quackery but I know it's worked for me in the past.
Any other tips welcomed.
I WILL NEVER GAMBLE AGAIN.
Well done on Change on keeping it going as well as the exercise.
Off to the gym myself soon. With the food also try Holland and Barrett. It's expensive in there normally, but they have their penny sale on at the moment. Buy one item at normal price and get the second for 1p.
Keep going.
All the best.
Yeah H&B can be really expensive but they permanently have those sales on so evens it out a little. I really want to eat some cheese on toast and then have a chocolate cake but defeats the object. Just another vice I need to avoid along with the gambling.
I WILL NEVER GAMBLE AGAIN.
Day 7 is going quite quickly. Cycle on the bike for an hour. See my son. Cycle back for an hour. Eat some raw carrot, low fat cottage cheese and nut / seed mix. Repair a couple of bits on bike. Back up to see son again.
Affected by gambling?
