Afternoon diary.

Well back to work, very quiet as the rain is a falling and quite glad I am not still steaming!! next year I plan to see the whole fair, from the luxury of a caravan!! lol.

the boss wants to change things on the new menu again so tomorrow my day off will be a day of research and further forwarding of yet more drafts, I think he is wishing us an indian summer as he yearns to many light airy fairy dishes!!! bring on the stodge!!!

Well supper last night turned into a laze on the couch enjoying a quiet one and a chinese from a little lace that delivers and adds no msg!!! fantastic today woke sober lol the first for a few days and ready for a new bout of grind then a treat for my Sarah and myself a few nights break somewhere quiet and dog free!!! ( love him dearly but sometimes !!!Lol) then our hovis may get a suprise yesterday we put into adopt another whippet, a dog the spit of hovis 1 yrs old and very similar in looks so fingers crossed he may have a mate to enjoy life with.

So the end of my 34th week comes to a close, more balance brought to my life, money in the bank after all the bills are paid and all seems well ,lifes challenges are there for the taking and without the fog of the punt there to spoil it all forward I will step, taking all I can.

Tomorrow I pick up my newer faster push bike (still no helmet shiny LOL) and on I will go.

Duncs compulsive gambler NO BET TODAY.

Hello Duncan,

I have been here a little while (33 days gamble free to be precise) and just wanted to stop by and say well done on your recovery. I have made a bit of a dent in reading your diary and found that your situation is pretty similar to mine, 3 kids, lovely wife who we owe it all to, i even used to be a chef many many years ago!! People like you are serving as an inspiration to those of us who are starting our journeys, its tough going but it is something that i am slowly starting to find more rewarding each day. I applaud your hard work and determination duncan, i wish you all the success in the world with your recovery.

Keep stepping forward mate.

all the best

Mark

Hi Duncs,

As always you pull out the positives of everything in your posts and my head is also starting to kick into that way of thinking all by itself. Why would we ever go back to the misery of gambling, continue pushing forward or speeding on that new super duper bike of yours.

An inspiration as always.

Afternoon diary.

well what a difference a day makes!!!!

Today marks 34 weeks gamble free and what will be a day to celebrate a gamble free life is marred with a shade of darkness, for me I will charge through it toward the light.

today I terminated my employment and look for pastures new, why?? stability!!! From the day I walked in to the job I gave my all, changed the ethos of many people, all except the one that counted the owner. The last week going to work has been like walking into a bookmakers each day, a sense of impending doom, a feeling that how ever much i commit, give my all that I will walk away potless. Well yesterday I had a harsh lesson in buisiness which was the straw that broke this camels back. I got paid and last week took three days off, returning saturday to do a half day due to a lack of bookings. My payslip read three days work, two days holiday pay. I was told that this is how it is, and despite my countless 7 day weeks, they count for nothing and each time I take more than two days rest these will count as holiday pay. I was still yet to recieve a contract and guess foolishly have tried to formulate the best out if the situation, legally I now know this is theft and for a fella that has given his all, well I wont have it. No chance of a compromise my situation has become untenable. So with immediate affect I resigned, why because I today have a huge amount of self respect, know life is too short and will learn from this harsh mistake and march gamble free toward the light I know I earn each day I say NO BET today. So today day 238 gamble free I dust myself down gamcarers, get on the hunt for a job that will reward my efforts in a fair manner, I wont as before bury my efforts in a bookmakers, or chance my arm upon a scratchcard. No lottery dream, just a job which will pay my dues, reward the hard graft and give me Stability.

So yes today will be a celabration a toast to recovery and all it brings, there are bumps in my road, undulations to steer round but gamble free, my beautiful family by my side I am on course to succeed, wo betide the next person in my professional life who takes me for a fool, I evolve daily, yes grateful for opportunity and folk who see my misgivings and help me to learn from them but it has to be with a balance, so to end I stand stick in hand, my love my life,my heartbeat by my side no secrets just a team to be recconded with forward we step never back.

duncs compulsive gambler NO BET 238 days.

Yo,

What a day this is turning out to be!

Once again I find myself gasping . Think of myself as pretty intuitive , but boy oh boy never in a million years did I see that one coming .........

Not that you did not do the right thing , ......

Empty restaurant , complaints , well as the old saying goes you reap what you sow . Can not believe that you stayed over , ran the place to be treated so badly 🙁

You know mate I am soooooooo proud of you today ,more than I have ever been , days are good but actions now thats what recovery is all about .

Cause you showed such courage , you are dead right , you thought sod this I am worth more than this .

You know what I agree 100 % you are !

I have no doubt you will get to doing what you love and inspires you , quite quickly . Really wish I was looking for a chef lol

Today I doff my cap to you , cause when we were at it , we were down trodden , you today pulled apart the chains that bind you . ( read that post ) .....

Raising a glass , I say good for you .....
