DMac,

I am disgusted to read about the way you have been treated by your boss and it is disgraceful man-management that allows a valued member of staff leave under such ridiculous circumstances.

I believe, albeit without knowing you personally, that one day you will work for yourself. Whether it be a restaurant or catering business. You are clearly a talented chef who gets the best out of his fellow workers and is very passionate about his work and fellow staff. These are fabulous credentials to have and will serve you well. As always, I wish you well and hope you find something suitable quickly.

Tomso.

Good Morning Dunc

Hope the new venture in the hotel is going well and the bbq sounded really good!

Your so right in that all the different experiences and changes in our life happen when we decide to make that commitment to stop gambling, your diary shows all that can happen because of this and how we can rebuild our lives to where we want them to be as long as we don't go back!

Thanks for all your support Duncs, been really appreciated and helps loads!

Keep going strong Duncs, it's really happeneing for you!

Afternoon diary.

Well what can I say folks thanks so much for all your kind words over the weekend I am stunned by the humility this forum brings and for me a great sense of belonging.

Well the new job was going brilliantly until the recruitment agency emailed across there statement of fees for putting me into the position. And subsiquently the opps manager decided although I was the person he was looking for the fees were too much!!!( despite the function catered for would have covered the costs alone and the fact that they are staged over four months as I progress through my employment!!) So he offered for me to give my services for free whilst they sorted the fees out!! Me thanks but no thanks, feeling like I jumped from the frying pan into the fryer!!! a deep one at that. So today I visited the agency and spent 3 hrs with the boss who was prepared to conceede 50% of the fees to secure me the job. My reaction was "find me a job were the owner/person in charge will actually honour there side of a contract!!!!" tomorrow I travel to two interviews in hampshire in search of once again "balance" in the mean time today i scored some consultancy work on a place that needs some tlc and costings implemented!! (currently running at 25% gp on some items madness!!) So money is coming in and I have given myself a target of being iin a new kitchen by the end of next week. You know in life when you think "this is too good to be true" well thats how I felt deep down on friday, a feeling that I dont feel comfortable with and aim to earn my respect from others in the work place, rather than potentially be fed it on a spoon,The difference ultimatley today is I want a job to enable me to use my skill sect and to boot enhance my life through the fullfilment of working hard to achieve the best I can, as before I wanted a job that paid top dollar for little or no effort so I could get at it in the bookies!!!

So another lesson learnt, slow down duncs take your time, calculate your decisions based on facts and contracts!!

Tomorrow marks 35 weeks gamble free somewhere I never thought I would get to, this week I aim to give back to recovery, get to GA a medicine I have missed for to long through the premise of work and here I owe the both so much, really I do, I leave you with this something I saw yesterday painted crudly upon the wall of our local community center.

"All men Die, just some die living"

Duncs stepping forward never back

Compulsive gambler NO BET Today.
