I went gamble free for 130 days and i am now back to day 1.

I registered to Gamstop 4 and a half months ago, and it was the best thing to happen to me, i was unable to even log in to my old accounts and i was starting to feel good about myself, i was able to set up plans to pay back my debt, even started Christmas shopping and was able to go out and enjoy myself socially which i haven't been able to do in a long time.

but then i got an email last month to an online account and i don't want to say which one as i don't want to set anyone back but i am really surprised that it isn't covered by Gamstop, thankfully i only did minimum damage and i have now excluded myself personally from that account.

so back to day 1 gamble free for me, ready to start all my hardwork over again.

Dear @somethingnew ,

Thank you for sharing this on the Forum. Have you installed the blocking software Gamban? www.gamban.com/ngh (free for one year with this link)

This will prevent promotional offers/free spins etc. It is worth installing alongside Gamstop as an extra measure.

Sorry to hear you have had a slight relapse but glad to see you have limited damage. Now you can focus on paying off debts and continuing your Christmas shopping. Please don't hesitate to contact us for support if you need to. We are here from 8am -midnight, seven days a week. 0800 802 0133 or chat live to one of our advisers.

Keep posting and sharing. All the very best.

Oh mate, you were doing do well!  Well I couldn’t think of a better time to start from day 1. Christmas only a few months away. I know I’m struggling at the moment, but Gamstop is helping me big time! Good luck ?

Hi There

You are only back to square one if you started from square one with a born again moment.

Your recovery must rely on more than willpower and yes more than certain blocks. Its takes a complete honesty with family and trusted friends. It requires a restriction to cash and providing receipts.

Im going to be blunt because I care about you. There was a door wide open there. You can delude yourself by talking it down but you had access to a gadget that recieves emails and could get you an account.

Gamstop is good but these things are not 100% and any gambler can skirt around if the urge takes them. Now you know you will do that its time to step up blocks and monitoring your access to gadgets.

Yes you will be scared by that thought as you will see the computer as freedom to get on with your life. You may be scared of living on an allowance but that would have stopped you wouldnt it. The addiction doesnt like cold turkey...it likes the thought that you have a way to gamble in an "emergency" the addiction will rise up anytime out of the blue

May I remind you that gambling kills people and you have to recognise the sheer power of the addiction. Any inconvenience or awkwardness in NOTHING compared with what it has in store if you continue.

The loss of trust is NOTHING and its not about treating you like a baby. Reach out and embrace all the steps...its not a casual blocking programme. its a born again moment to save you from a strong drug addiction.

Food for thought. Take care!

Best wishes from everyone on the forum

Bit harsh imho, everyone is different , willpower can win, sometimes it’s not enough.

We are all not the same, if folk relapse and do very limited damage I’d like to think with encouragement they will get straight back at it.

Yes this is a drug addiction but some folk simply cannot come clean to everyone, myself included.
