Hi John,

Well done you are doing really well, you are keeping yourself out of trouble, do you have any strategy to get yourself through your day?

Are you enjoying the World cup, no bets I hope.

Take care and keep strong

hello luckygirl thanks for reading, firstly loving the world cup its great supporting all the underdogs and not been tempted to bet on it .as for strategy just relying on my own will power and belief in myself which im lucky to have in abundance . i can relate that really to when i was a young fit teenager i would go out for a run and push myself a bit further now and then till i got to a stage where i really believed i could just keep running forever if i chose to , load of rubbish i know but really crossrd my mind . so im treating this the same really with the difference being itreally IS possible that i wont have to stop running away from gambling , it really is up to me . the one cloud on the horizon is that i really do LOVE racing especially dogs and national hunt horse racing (jumps ) so much so that in my younger days i owned and bred greyhounds ( til missus and kids came along )and most of my mates love them too so there is probably gonna come a time to stop avoiding and go watch without a bet . can do it with football which i also love so think in time will be able to do the same with racing but must be sure im not kidding myself into gambling, think a planned visit after a set amount of time may be an idea . alternativley tell my mates pub only no racing talk ?? cross that bridge when i come to it i think but for now , as the spencer davis group said ....keep on running. thanks for interest luckygirl and good luck to you. john.

Hi John, hope you are keeping strong and can one day look at sporting events without the financial aspect.

My hubby is a WestHam supporter so as they are very unpredictable I would never dream of putting bet on them!!!!!

So keep up the good work and enjoy the joy of sport for itself. And Hey lets cheer for England in the footie!!! Joy

First of all let me congratulate you on turning down ascot, it must have been difficult for you to do. I am going to be in a similar position in the next couple of weeks as it is my birthday and my friends have already ask about our annual trip to the casino. They do not know I have given up gambling but I know that I could tell them but have chose not to at the moment. So good on you. I hope you have had a good weekend and continued success for your recovery. From one Hammer to another!!

Take care

Lucky girl

well luckygirl seems theres far too many hammers here , must be the old east end pea soupers got to our brains ( not that any of us are old enough to remember them ) to be honest ascot no big deal i always enjoy time with my friends no matter where it is , in fact the added attraction of the horses probably takes away from the enjoyment . perhaps you could encourage your mates on a pub crawl as an alternative , thanks and best wishes john.
