Thank you Redeemed for your encouragement.
Day 17 for me - I found a few e-mails today from various casinos/bingo sites and was delighted to note that they had no effect - simply blocked them without reading. That felt good!
gambling companies spend millions attracting new customers and trying to retain the ones they have
not reading their mail can only help to stay away
Thank you triangle - you are right; the gambling sites must regard their 'customers' like lemmings - loads will fall over the edge but there will be millions more coming up behind!
Day 19 - can't wait to get into the 20's!
An observation: How good it is to see an almost immediate progress from deep despair of newcomers to the hope shown in the helpful advice and support they give to even newer members after just a day or so.
I have become something of a proselytising bore in urging people to join the '2014 Challenge' -but this has been such a great help to me - it focuses all the support out there into a small group; sometimes it's quite difficult to sustain 'conversations' on the other threads as you can forget where you have visited, but with the 2014 Challenge you know you are 'home'.
Best wishes to everyone.
Joanna
Congratulations on your continued progress, and glad to see you have found something that works for you in terms of focusing your mind to be without gambling. I agree that after the first few days without gambling that there is almost a feeling of relief, and you can start to feel optimistic about the future, plan for things etc. It's not easy or plain sailing by any means, but by keeping your guard up against temptation and focusing on staying away from gambling, you can continue to make progress and start to develop other hobbies, activities or even work that can fill the gap left by not gambling.
Well done on your 19 days, and hope there are plenty more to come.
Ryan
