Thank you Dark Place; thank you S.A.

Dark Place, you are so right about being on your guard. I think of gambling as a troll on my shoulder, always ready to whisper in my ear: Go on, it won't hurt to have a little bet....

And such thoughts come at such erratic times - when I'm feeling fed up, when I'm feeling happy - no rhyme nor reason to it. Which is why we tread such a dangerous path.....but what's that old Gracie Fields song: "Sing as we go, we're marching on our way..."? Sorry - can't reach those high notes of hers...

Hello Joanna,

Been reading your diary and must say how much I admire your positivity and strength. Very well done on your continued journey in this recovery.

Every day is different, so just ride the low ones out and enjoy the good ones. There is always something to look forward to no matter how we feel. Stay strong and keep making the right choice. Recovery never stops gifting peace, happiness and freedom to your soul...it's yours to take 🙂

Have a good day and stay well

Sandra x

Hi Joanna,

Thank you so much for your supportive post it really is appreciated at such a low time of my life.

I like your idea of baking which will definitely occupy my time when I am not working. I am sure my family would enjoy (well hopefully) some cakes so I am going to do this.

Take care and keep strong.

LG x

A busy few days so no time to post properly - Day 54 and the gambling urge receding day by day, thankfully.

Day 55 - bank balance rising slowly but surely, and to think that once I could easily lose that amount with a few clicks of the mouse. Crazy!!

Hi Joanne,

Closing on on two months...a great milestone to add to your collection. The recovering bank balance is just one part of not gambling, and the release of pressure in that time must be a big relief too.

Well done on your achievements so far, and keep on to get plenty more without gambling in your life.

All the best

Ryan

Wayforward; leedso, Stu - thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement and best wishes to you all in your individual journeys.

Day 56. To be honest, I still think about gambling every day, but in a detached, analytical way - with no thoughts of how to circumvent the self-exclusions or blocking program as I had at the start of my recovery.

With each day it becomes more and more 'alien' territory - hopefully one day I will have lost my passport to it...

Hi j chocolate cake good rather yummy congrats on day 56. Kevin and perry are hard work at times. Keeping busy just started decorating it's very therapeutic . Made a pie the hormones upstairs likened it to road kill. Um !

Hi HTF - Glad the baking is doing the business, though we can always count on our OHs for encouraging words - 'road kill pie' - mmm, next time leave the prickes on the hedgehog before you give him a slice!

Best wishes and keep strong.

Joanna

Day 57 - another good one.

You keep your good work going and take good care.

Love and Respect
