This is my first clean day from gambling and coincidentally the 1st day of the year. This is my start of the recovery process, to have money again, to spend special and precious time with my family without worrying if the next horse or football bet has won. I have spent most of the day with my youngest daughter playing games and watching movies and it has been amazing. This is most definitely the life I want to live and I know it's going to throw its challenges my way but as long as I remember yesterday and the days previous to it and compare them to today it will give me the strength to keep going and live this life as if it were normal to me. I know it's only one day but here's to the others that follow in the same vain!! Keep strong...

Hi D

Just wanted to say well done for making the decision to stop gambling and starting a diary. Hopefully, you will find this very therapeutic as you continue to use it.

Take care and the best of luck.

Thanks T

It is Saturday and this is the day when most of my sports betting takes place and have thought about it (gambling) a few times already but also reminded myself of the bad times (which was 90% of the time) and this along with my happy family keeps me stronger than ever.. Here's to day two and many many more to come.....

Hi DJ

I read on a reply you put on another post you'd been to GA before but you were put off by the religious side? I was a bit confused becasue GA doesn't have a religious side. It has a spiritual one but that's different. Perhaps look into GA again if what your doing now doesn't work out?

Day 5 and no urges at all

This is a better buzz than gambling

Day 6 has seen some urges to gamble some quite strong and others not so. I think that when my mind isn't on something then it systematically reverts to thinking of gambling after all this was a huge part of my life but with this in mind and knowing I am aware of it I should be able to substitute that urge with another pass time or hobby so that when the urge comes again I can revert to the new one and hopefully in time this will be my generic urge rather than to gamble......

Now to find that new urge!!
