Congratulations on your 80 days 🙂

You deserved the barbie even if you don't know what you're missing! It is true that most kids want to be us so that they can eat the luxuries that we were subjected to as youngsters but you're all grown up now & a barbie without halloumi is just not acceptable in your part of the world!

How did you get on @ the Hospital?

Thanks for the posts Suzanne and Juuuuuuuuuuuunnne!

Another week finished at work, and heading into the weekend in a good mood. The anti-inflammatory tablets the doc prescribed seem to be doing the trick, as the constant niggling knee pain has subsided.....thankfully.

Going to concentrate fully on my golf balls this weekend, so therefore will be taking a break from posting.

Will be back on Monday to check up on you all. ;0)

Keep strong all you Gamcarians and enjoy your weekend!!....

Ade x

......told you i'd be back on Monday.... ;0)

Thank you all for the posts.

Have enjoyed a nice weekend, which started with a few impromptu beers on Friday night with a couple of friends.

Up early on Saturday with a list of things to do, so headed off to the local town. Bought myself a nice new rucksack for work in Sports shop, then headed to WHSmiths to get some paper for the printer. Had to go past a L*#brokes which I used to frequent on such trips into Town in the past. No probs with navigating that minor hurdle as these days i'm just not interested in gambling.

Then off to get me old barnet snipped (oops, slipped back into cockerney speek there for a mo!) which funnily enough takes me past a brand new Cor*ls bookies - "No.3 sides and back, and slight trim on top please guv....." he manages to sculpt my 50 shades of grey into a bouffant to die for, and then I'm off again, past the Cor*ls and the L*#brokes.

Back home via the Garden Centre, to pick up some bird feed obviously! (Closet twitcher alert I hear you say!) then spend the rest of the day at home watching the parakeets systematically wreck my bird feeders and scare all the robins and t**s off! And don't even get me started on the bloody squirrels devouring my nuts!..........What a Rock and roll lifestyle I lead eh!! Bill Oddie's got nothing on me eh!! ;0)

Spent today with the family. My Mum visited for Sunday lunch, went to the park, took daughters swimming, had a few beers and watched the TV tonight.

I have been reading the forum over the weekend quite a lot, without posting obviously. Feeling good generally and ever mindful that I am only ever one bet away from potential disaster. Mind you, it's very satisfying to do the simple things in life, like I did on Saturday morning. And just go to the shops, do a few chores and not be in some kind of trance with my head full of gambling on a Saturday.........Contentment I think they call it....

Keep strong all

Ade

Hi Ade,

That sounds like a pretty decent weekend to me, clearly much better than what gambling has to offer as a "fun way" to spend the weekend. Hope that contentment stays with you for a long time, and if you do need an outlet for your frustration, how about a catapult to flick stuff at those darn squirrels!

Well done on continuing to find the right balance and still beating this thing down. Life ain't always easy, but gambling will only ever make things harder. Where exactly do you live to have parakeets having a go at your nuts?

Cheers to your beers!

Ryan

Hi Ade, great to see you back and in top form, but to be honest you were 4 minutes late........four minutes that's nothing I hear you cry......well try telling that to Roger Bannister.

Boom Boom I'm sure that's an old Basil Brush gag, what a great feel good post from you fella I'm sensing your joy my friend....contentment sums it up for me too Ade....the way I see my 80 plus days in recovery is...Day 1 was like St Swithins day cause in my world it peed down for the next forty days and nights, then it started to brighten up and contentment started to creep in..and it feels good.

like Ryan i was wondering about the parakeets, your theory on the escapees seems plausible to me, their first winter must have come as a bit of a shock....off home early tonight cause it's my turn to spend time with the golf balls, tonight my daughters my son-in-laws and the grand kids coming over...contentment indeed...have a great night with yours......Ginger

Thanks Ryan and Ginge for your posts.

84 days or 12 weeks of recovery. I haven't felt this good for years.

I never want to go back to that empty shell of an excuse for a man ever again.

Keep strong all

Ade
