Gambling: a sure way of getting nothing for something.

You followed my path almost to the letter my friend. You do well again. I can help. I will show you. Trust me. Counting is not the way forward. Self actualization is. I don' t think about it these days. It's over. Let me open the door for you. x

Day 26 Gamble free

Taget = 31 days

Still posting everyday as those urges are coming thick and fast especially yesterday. Loads of sport = good, actually starting to enjoy the football again for what is is rather than feeling ridiculously tense every second of the match.

AN - great to see you on the forum again, I suspect you are around reading these days and you are probably right about counting those days, one day I will be able to stop counting as others have done, at the moment it is like a safety valve, don't want to set that valve to 0 again if that makes any sense...

Here is one for you, it is a tune that gives me hope for the future, new horizons.

The new year ain't to far off and looks like your heading straight into it gamble free.

Day 27 gamble free

target 31 days

Just another day ODAAT, so true, so true, that is all there is.

Feels like slowly I am coming back to life and thawing out, have looked at my bank statements which nearly induced shock, I now need them for a finacial transaction which is going to be a disaster so not sure what to do..

Really want to get to 1st January and complete my first festive period gamble free for many many years.

Day 28 gamble free

target 31 days

Just a few days until the New Year and I can't wait for 2013 to happen, am really determined to be strong and to enjoy a year for once rather than struggle month after month.

I am not going to make any rash predicitons or resolutions apart from to take it ODAAT that is all, today I will fight, today I will not gamble, today I will enjoy my life and try to retake my place in the human race.

Tomorrow is another day and I will come out fighting again, spring from my bed and smile in the mirror, this day is ours not theirs, not yours mr gambling demon, this day is mine.

Well good attitude and Congrats on your days.

Thanks for the support and much appreciated.

Guess things happen for a reason and who knows maybe my nephew could prove to be a positive for me as I try to be for him. Think we both need some dusting off and another go.

Day 29 gamble free

target 31

Thanks Broken soul, as you say things do often happen for a reason, it might be a sign!

Time goes incredibly slowly when posting on here everyday, I feel much stronger now so will probably go back to posting every few days. That gives me a chance to get on with life as well and not spending all day on Gamcare, need to make sure I don't get addicted!

This forum and more specifically its diarists have saved me in so many ways, never before could I have contemplated going December completely gamble free but I am just two days from doing so. October and November were disasters mind you so have to be alert.

ODAAT and we CAN do this together

Hi paul,

Thanks so much for your message! I have temporarily lost my bounce, due to being slapped about by life a bit lately, but it will come back, it always does.

Well done on your continued success in recovery. You have made a huge change in your gambling behaviour, and have sustained that reduction over a long period. Slips are part of the process in my humble. I can't think of anyone who had it c r a cked first time. Looking at the overall pattern, you are going great guns!

Take care,

f x

Hi Paulds,

Sometimes taking things slow make what sometimes seem the impossible ? Possible. I find breaking mamoth tasks into small chucks makes it so much easier.

Keep stepping forward pauls, the gamble free days are becoming longer and longer and that is an achievement to be proud of.

Wish you all the very best for 2013, may it bring you peace and happiness.

Take care

Day 30

Target Day 31

Thanks Freda, Blondie and BS for your kind words, it is great to know that there are people out for me.

One more day until target and then rock on to 2013 gamble free. I don't mind admiting I have urges, they are less intense now but are still there each and every day. don't want to throw away all that hard work now, dont want to start at day 0 again.....

Have joined Flagg's thread for 2013, at this stage I really doubt whether I can last the year, I simply don't trust myself enough, but as I look back on 2012 I had some good stints gamble free of 40 days, 80 days and 120 days, bizarre now i look at it going up in 40 days each time... Just have to start putting all those stints together now.

still just going to take it ODAAT that is all.

Evening Mate,

Well done on reaching target 1. I think setting some smaller manageable targets is a proven successful method. I know the days can seem like they are crawling by posting and counting daily but sometimes I find looking back actually shows the time is flying.

Really pleased you have a determination to move forward into 2013 I always like your enthusiasm and I was pleased to see you part of the new thread.

All the best for 2013,

Flagg
