Cheers for the post Jeff. No matter how dull we have to keep posting! So here goes.....played golf at southport and ainsdale. Played poorly but halved the match with the clients. One of the clients is a big gambler and mentioned he had won 2k last week on a horse.....I thought to myself "that's great but how much have you lost over the years and have you already lost those winnings plus a bit more". Back in 'the home office' tomorrow before the four ball match tomorrow evening. No gambling but very aware that I will always be a gambler.

Nice post Russ.

I've only played S&A once and it was in November so i wasn't that taken with it. Have to get back for a knock there some time.

I've been lucky enough to play Birkdale a few times over the last couple of years and that is a real treat.

You are spot on about the bloke you played with. Us gamblers never tend to mention the losses do we! Like many on here i have never met a rich gambler!

Well done on walking past all the bookies and arcades mate.

Not long till the footy season starts now and we are still holding onto Arteta and Pienaar.

Come on you blues.

Cheers fast life, I like your posts...there's something crazy yet funny about them! Managed to play our four ball knock out this evening. It was pouring down and we decided to play it over 9 holes....we won on the 8th so into the quarter finals now. Club champ on Sunday, I 'm one of the higher handicaps playing so I'm just hoping to get the handicap down. Family day tomorrow before the gang head down south to see the grand parents. I'll be on my own but I won't be filling my time with gambling!

Hi Russ,

Good luck in the club champs mate. Don't go blowing it Tin Cup style like i did.

I'm getting custom fit for some new Mizuno irons next weekend at their fitting centre in Wrexham so i'm hoping that will give me a bit of enthusiasm back.

Rumours are spreading that Landon Donovan is on his way back to Goodison mate. It would make my summer that one.

Enjoy your weekend mate and play well.

Played over 9 holes, light weight! 😉

Comp day for us Sunday too, although Club Champs isnt until end of Aug. We play over 36 holes in a day, a case of 'must play well in round 1 so round 2 isnt a waste of time'

Time on your own could be used to do some of that all important 'short game practice'

Have a good day tomorrow and good luck Sunday

Dave

36 Holes in a day after a late one last night and I'm shattered. I didn't blow it 'Tin Cup' style but I didn't do that well either. I shot 76, 78. Which put me 6th in the gross and 4th in the nett. So not too bad. The family have taken off down to the South coast for a week so the house is deafly quite. It feels strange not having the mayhem of a busy house. Normally I'd be looking at odds and getting involved in a great deal of gambling. Not this time. I'm determined to kick gambling into touch.

Evening Russ,

Well done on the golf mate. 6th in the gross and 4th in the net is not to be sniffed at and you managed two solid rounds. What is the par round your place Russ?

Well done on not gambling as well. Having time to myself is always a trigger for me. It is good to see you kicking any temptation firmly in the nuts.

Onwards and upwards pal.

Hi Russ

I'm off 9, fighting to get down but I'm struggling to get the ball in play off the tee, If I could drive I'd be dangerous!

Get to play once a week give or take. H knows I need me time so I play at weekends. She really is a star, couldnt get a better wife.

How long will we be posting here? I'll happily do it forever if it means I never gamble again!

Dave

A quick post before I head off for my singles match (i feel all golfed out...just need to get through tonight!). No gambling thoughts despite the family being away. I miss them. Last night was so strange, I woke in the night thinking I could hear our little girl crying.....just habit I guess. 30 mins more work then show time!

Sorry for all the none golfers out there who may stumble upon my diary and be bored senseless reading it! I won this evening and feel so so good for it. In fact the feeling is better than any buzz gambling ever gave me. I won on the 19th after shooting a 74. I made a 20 footer to stay in the game on the 17th. I honestly believe that I would never have done this whilst I was gambling. I'm much tougher mentally now I'm not gambling. Strange but true. Anyway, I'm going to bed a happy man.

Well done mate!

Can't remember the last time i holed a 20 footer. That will have floored your opponent! Who would have thought that quitting gambling would see you hole more putts.

Someone should tell John Daly and then he can get back on the major trail.

Keep up the sterling work pal.
