Day 114

Still going strong with no major issues. On my last day of a 9 day run through picking up some overtime to pay off gambling debts.

So am absolutely knackered on the last night shift but looking forward to a couple of days off. I think a well earned pint will be in order tomorrow 🙂

Life is a lot simpler without gambling!

Take care folks, keep fighting

Day 118 (just)

Got four emails today off a betting company which was odd, not sure how that slipped through the net but made sure I un-subscribed straight away.

Did 50 miles on the bike today in glorious sunshine. When I was in my gambling zone, i used to hate sunny days being cooked up in the house glued to a computed screen. So much better on the other side of the window living life.

Take care

Jimbo

Hi Jimbo,

I still get mailshots in the post and emails from these companies, the one that makes me laugh are the 'Cashback on your losses' emails. If I approached you in the street and said, hey mate, if you give me a hundred quid I'll give you a tenner back?

Anyway, no more thoughts about those crooks, that bike ride sounds good! Hope you're still on the straight and narrow and have passed four months gamble free!

All the best

Ryan

Day 125

Thanks for the post Ryan. So true, you hit the nail on the head with that analogy. Its amazing how we see through the obvious when we have our next fix in sight. I like you, enjoy to just laugh at them now.

I got my new bike yesterday, my 100 day rewards 🙂 I'm so giddy it's like its Christmas. Waiting for some decent weather to get out on it.

I've not spent money on myself like this in a long while if at all! It's a great feeling and just encourages me to carry on this fight.

Thanks for reading,

Jimbo

Day 131

Hi all, not too much to report but thought I come on here while I have a spare couple of minutes. Recovery still going well, no major urges to gamble and the minor ones are still not even getting considered.

Working nights at the moment so no time to even think about gambling.

Car has been in the garage and got a call to say it would be £300 to fix 🙁 GUTTED!!!!

Really cant afford this, couldn't imagine what i'd do if i was still gambling! This puts the debt repayments back another month which will take it to December this year. Absolutely gutted, but thats life!

Still better than gambling, take care folks

Well done Jimbo mate...you've got the right attitude there. I'm sure I don't need to tell you that a £300 car bill in the middle of a gambling phase...well, its a familiar creek that I've been up before, and I can never find my paddle.

Debt is debt, and while it may take a little longer to pay off, it doesn't reduce your achievements one bit. Keep beating this addiction one day and one payment at a time.

All the best

Ryan

Day 142

Thanks again for the ongoing support Ryan. I'd have been in a right mess if I was still gambling and had to pay the £300 for the car. Luckily I'm not, its not great but its not undo-able.

Car is sorted now, back to paying off debts. No real issues of late, still no major urges to gamble. Just trying to stay focussed on getting debt free and enjoying life without that dark cloud overhead that gambling brings.

Take care everyone

Day 184

Hi all, still fighting this ongoing battle but still winning. The urges are much less frequent but they never stop. It only takes a gambling advert to get the mind ticking again.

I'm just enjoying gamble free life now, still in a lot of debt which is a constant reminder of my past but i'm able to enjoy life for what it is, the simple things i guess.

The number one priority is to stay on my guard and not become complacent.

Thanks for reading folks, keep fighting the fight, it is worth it!

Hey Jimbo

Lovely to see you writing in your diary again and really pleased to see that you are still remaining gamble free.

It truly is the simple things in life you get to enjoy once again, when we abstain from gambling, not to mention the peace of mind.

Stay strong and just let those adverts come and go - what's 3 minutes in 24 hours!!

Take care.
