Hi all
Finally decided to come back on here, been away for a while but decided that the time is now right to start a diary again and stay gambling free. My story is those roulette machines in the bookies. Since I last came on here, there hasn’t been all misery, I have had some hits, staying away from gambling for months, months. I even went through my statements on line and in the last 19 months I have lost £2,500 to gambling, not a huge amount and I am not in debt but let’s face it, it’s a nice holiday for 2 to Barbados,
The reason for me coming on here is I want to end my gambling sessions for good. I am what they call I binge gambler, I can go for days and sometimes weeks not gambling then all of a sudden I will gamble and gamble until my money is maxed out and I am in a zombie state. It always is when I go to a different town shopping, I have a young family and my wife and daughters like nothing better then going shopping, it is here that I stray away and gamble. Where I work, it’s the edge of town and there are many, many bookies nearby but I don’t even get tempted.
I look forward to writing and reading on my and others diaries. Between now and the end of the year there are 112 days, come on let’s go on this journey together.

Day 2
Must remember to post regularly on my diary.
Feeling good and confident.
Mate u are good, stay away, I just lost £220 this morning after I had decided to stop gambling, last month payday all went on the fobt, and couldn’t even pay my rent, and I have been to court for my house and I manage to survive l, but now when I get paid this month all the money is going to the rent next month I am going on a holiday to Africa and I have no money, I have been doing this for 9 years, and I am in so much debt I can’t even sleep.
Hi Dadaras
I feel your pain but there is salvage, if you stop feeding a plant it dies, similarly if we stop feeding the fobts then they will also die. Look at my post after this one, very inspiring.

Hi guys
Just finished a book Overcomeing Gambling by Philip Mawer, very easy to read and very good. Below are just some points which I found tailored to me and will act as a reminder of when I get tempted.
Gambling is a habit, just like biting your finger nails, it can be overcome.
The gambling industry is challenging me, come in and see if you can beat me.
Compulsive gambling can be seen as an illness, like someone who suffers from hay fever, they can combat it by keeping away from flowers etc, for me the solution is, keep out of bookies.
I have sign posts, when I have had big losses, remind myself of them.
When we have an urge, train our minds to ignore it, it will pass and with every success the urges will get less.
Gamblers are immature, they lose hundreds without thinking about the time and money, both of which could be spent with the family.
Visualise my big losses and how I could have helped people in third world countries get an education, some food or even restore eyesight.
I will no longer support the 8 billion gambling industry in the UK with my hard earned money, after all, if I lose money, the industry won’t pay my gas bill, mortgage etc, they will simply move on to the next sucker.
Build a hatred towards industry, it will see people homeless, separated, in poor health and just shrug its shoulders.
As well as money, all the time I have lost away from family on shopping trips whilst I was running from bookie to bookie, for example once we had arranged to go our seperate ways and meet up for lunch, only, I wasn’t there because I was fixated on the roulette machine.
I will no longer be in a ‘betting coma’, gambling hours and hours and not realising where time and money has gone.
The above are only some points, not trying to advertise the book but the best few pounds I ever spent!

Hi Shaun
Will definitely give the book a try but I would also recommend you read Allen Carr's "The easy way to stop gambling"
That book helped me more than u ever thought a book could and I think it's a must read for anyone in a similar situation to ourselves.
Good luck with your recovery mate!

Hi JW
Just googled the Allen Carr book, saw it for £2.99 so have purchased it, thanks will report back once read it.
Thought for today, when I get an urge I will look at the bookies and think it’s me verses the £8 billion industry, who is going to win? The bookies are laughing and trying to get me to enter. If I enter and win the gambling industry will smile and say, we will get you next time, if I lose then they will be laughing in my face and say SUCKER. After a loss the gambling industry doesn’t care if some has to lie, steal etc to cover his tracks or even if after a loss someone goes home and becomes ‘handy’ to his partner. They will simply move on to the next customer.
Stay gamble free guys.
Shaun
Hi all
Here is another way of looking at gambling. We by nature, are horrible people, you may gasp and think that is a bit OTT.
Look at the facts, when we gamble we are selfish and self centred because we will stay fixated to a screen or table for hours in that ‘zombie state’ as I call it. Not giving a d**n about the families finances and time spent away from them, just caring about ourselves and winning. We will lie and hurt loved ones to cover our tracks after a loss.
Now, do we really want to be that horrible, self centred, lying, deceitful person.
Be good.
Shaun
Another dollar, another gamble free day for us all.
Silly really when you think about it, we put our selves through so much pain and anguish for the sake of gambling where we know the final result is always the same. Even if we WIN, WIN, WIN, in the end they get you.
Gambling industry isn’t worth 8 billion pounds on winners.
Stay safe.
Shaun
Hi where did you find it for this price?

Happy Saturday guys, today I choose to watch the T20 finals day on sky as apposed to running from cash point to bookies to cash point to bookies, betting and chasing hundreds and at the same time putting myself under enormous strain in that zombie state.
Shaun
Hi guys
Just glad to wake up on a Sunday without having to think about how to juggle my finances or the lies I will tell just to cover my tracks after a disastrous Saturday chasing 0, 8, 17, 20 on the roulette machine and losing hundreds.
7 days gamble free, only a start but a start.
Shaun
