Hey shiny ..

Again for different reasons (lol , how many times do I say that ) ..I find we are on a similar journey.

I too believe that my programming has been set from birth, or more specifically adoption and I am damaged goods as they say.

I also have tried a few therapies in my time but like you am coming to the conclusion that I am best accepting my lot.

In the same way as a person who loses a limb will never replace it I can compensate for the rest of my life which will take colossal energy or just find ways to navigate around my inner handicap.

I don't see that as a cop out but I cannot over layer ,hypnotise or trick the mind as the damage that what done as it is on such a primal level as I believe my brain chemistry and certainly how my body handles adreniline and stress was radically altered and traumatised.

I also have had this confirmed many times as I am also an active member of NORCAP the organisation that reunites parents with family members through adoption., their newsletter stories and letters all saying the same thing.

Dare I say it, perhaps medical drugs would have a better effect for me and I really hate to say that.

I think CBT can work for some people with other issues and as I said before my friend goes for confidence building and to learn organisation and time management skills and to aid with social phobias and anxiety.

For me I also know my triggers and am now making steps to navigate them...once you accept then life actually is liberating as there is also a lot of wisdom in the words "know your limitations" ...mine are that a marriage or close relationship domestically is not an option for me...and I'm happy with that as the pressure is subsiding.

Hi Shiny,

Thanks for your kind support and I'm pleased you are keeping well.

Sorry I've been cr** lending you my support, I just haven't had the strength to play much of a role on this site recently.

Urges are back strong today, I am so god dam miserable and hurt, so am happy to grip this site tight and remain on guard. I could so easily blown my brains out (Spend all my money on gambling) but it won't make me feel any better.

Thanks again it means a lot xx

Yo,

Thank you for replies guys and sure we will continue this discussion at a later date . Blondie hug for dad greatly received xxxxxx((((((b))))))

No gambling thoughts what so ever . Dad condition now enters the finial stage , and it's pretty tough going .

I really do not want to write much more about it , and I know in the back ground you are all sending me your support, so please do not feel the need to struggle as what to write , I know how difficult that can be .

I will come through this , I know that and to be honest i do not have a choice . As for escaping for a punt , not in mind what so ever . Every minute of the day is far to precious and not to be wasted .

Laters

Just a quick fly by to say I'm thinking of you and your Dad. I know things must be hectic and gambling must be the furthest thought right now, nonetheless take care and keep strong.
