5 weeks without random gambling now, guess I should be celebrating.

It has made a difference financially which was my main objective, my working week is more balanced without the ups and downs of gambling and I did get a brief glimpse yesterday that there may be a benefit which is not just financial in time.

But no random gambling has left a gap in my life in terms of both thinking and doing. I have experienced this temporarily before in times of no funds, but then it was temporary. Now it is permanent.

Every weekend is a real strain. My necessary chores and tracking the football results takes me to 5 pm Saturday. There may occasionally be a football or tennis match I watch on a Sunday but generally my weekend is over at 5 pm on a Saturday and the time between then and Monday morning spent finding meaningless things to do, watching rubbish tv, going for walks, reading.

I'd rather be able to relax and enjoy my weekends more. Work is hard going and the weekend should allow relaxation from it or the excitement of doing something I enjoy. I'd like to take a days holiday from work but at the same time it would just be another day of time filling so I'm avoiding taking a day off - vicious circle.

Keep plugging away and hope things get better. Guess its a phase I need to go through.

Hi Captain

Well done on the 5 weeks m8.

We all get a bit bored of a weekend, but other people (non gamblers) have time off and get by. Traditionally the weekend is to rest but ourselves used this time to gamble and are now finding it hard to adjust .It will come in time. All the best Jeff.

Morning Captain,

Cheers for the post. Your support is always appreciated by me.

Good to see you still avoiding the pitfalls of random gambling. I really hope you can keep this up mate.

I think the reason i can still enjoy watching the golf is because i am such an enthusiast for the sport generally. I seem to remember you telling me that you had a lesson with a pro once and you totally missed the ball. That's probably why you need to have a bet on in order to enjoy it!

I do still play footy mate but only a 7a side on a Monday night now. I used to be a decent player when i was a youngster but i lost my way when i went to university and hardly played for 3 years. When i picked it up again i found that lads i used to run rings around where now my equal. I've not enjoyed playing as much since!

Do you play any footy mate or do you just concentrate on your running? I must admit i think i might struggle to do this 5km in 23mins by the end of March!

Hi Captain,

Hope all is well today in the RF world...,interesting view that you have regarding the horseracing,i enjoy the sport as a spectacle,so that is probably the difference,it's like Curly and the golf,he loves the game and doesn't need a bet to enjoy it,sorry to read that you are still struggling in terms of filling your time, must be frustrating, hope that doesn't lead you to RG!!!,if your bored you may start rationalising about filling your time in the bookies, hope not.

Seano.

Yeessss! A drab strenuous weekend is brightened by my Sunday football selection coming up courtesy of a last minute winner!

Had I been random gambling, this would have been small compensation for huge losses. Without random gambling, it has a completely different effect. It is just being able to enjoy a hobby and sometimes get some money in doing so.

Thanks to all on here for continued support, without you I would not be experiencing this moment.

Hello C,

I am happy that you won but I am concerned too. Concerned that if you had lost it may have made you unhappy C? I don't want to see that happen to you 🙂

Day 37 -I start the day in determined fashion - a good gym session will prepare me for the stresses of the day ahead. I manage 17 staff and therefore it only takes one to be off sick, not meet a deadline, cause issues etc. for the day to end up stressful - the joys of management!

I do 5k on Cross trainer in 17 mins, 5k Rowing in 22 mins and 5k running in 23 mins.

(Note to Curly - the running is after the other 2 so really just a warmdown)

I remember there is one week to go in February - all my family die in February historically ( I reckon they have post Christmas blues, somehow get through January and then cant be bothered with another full calendar year) so if I survive to next Monday I have at least another year on the planet.

I need 5 years to clear debts I have calculated, but I need to revamp my life in the meantime. Just living like this for the next 5 years wont kill me but will drive me crazy with boredom!

Evening Captain,

It must be tough managing 17 people especially if one of them lets you down by not turning in for work. If that happens do you have to flip a few burgers yourself?

Good to see you making your controlled betting pay. Was it Bobby Zamora who saved the day for you? I'm impressed with how you are controlling things mate.

I think that you should maybe treat yourself to some new clothes out of your winnings mate. I found a tee-shirt online that i think would suit you..........

Keep up the good work Captain.

Hey C....you are turning into a fitness fanatic. What with a snazzy hair cut, your spray tan and now a toned bod...there's no stopping you!

I am sorry to hear that some of your family have died in February. It can be a bit worrying but hey ho what the hell can we do about it. What will be will be. Better to pop your clogs in the gym rather than watching cartoon racing in the bookies.

You are doing just great 🙂

I reckon you are a tough Manager...bit like David Brent? Can you dance like him?

Hi Captain, thanks for the post, and thanks for the honesty regarding the time you think about gambling at the weekend, that is my one real concern for you,....still if you can continue as you are you will be fine in the long term.In my own case i have put so many blocks in place to ensure that it would be so hard for me to gamble that i find it easier than some people may, that plus the fact Captain, that after such a long time gambling i have actually had a bellyfull of it.I often go back to my first post and that helps me,and as you know my Mrs will handle the money in future and whilst i realise that isn't either possible or palatable for everyone it is a huge help to me.Keep up the good work.

Seano.
