This could be of interest to those contemplating whether or not to tell someone about their addiction.... or even general interest as it's an excellent talk whether you're *** or straight.
These help me sleep when I can't... or help relax me when I'm very stressed.

Found the idea of awareness and surrender very helpful, and to a point have been using them for some time. Also gives you an idea why you're addicted, with detailed but simple explanations of limbic brain (primitive brain) and its role in addiction. Found this presentation so useful. Hope it helps others.
"“No matter where you are at in the process of recovery today is the most important day you’ll ever have. We cannot afford to let yesterdays slips destroy our progress today nor can we become complacent due to yesterdays success. The small and simple choices that you’ll make this day will determine the course of your life. In reality tomorrow never really comes and in truth this day is the only day we will ever really have. Today is the day we can choose to be our best selves. Remember that moments are the molecules of time.”
Useful article on how your brain tricks you into sticking with bad habits/addictions.
Hey Blondie
Just wanted to wish you all the very best for 2014. I am sure that you will continue to go from strength to strength in your recovery. I hope your wedding plans are going well also.
Take care.

TV doc on gambling that might be of interest to some here. Profiles a couple of problem gamblers in Germany, where the problem is just as big as the UK. Quite amazingly, they have state-run casinos, which is a bit barmy. Worth a watch.
TV drama on compulsive gambling.

It's a show called Moving On and the episode called 'Punter' revolves around a problem gambler as his problem gets worse.
I watched this during my first few months in recovery and it helped remind me of what I was leaving behind. It might bring back some painful memories or experiences, so be warned. Nevertheless, it serves as a powerful reminder of the life we've left behind and why it's madness to repeat the same behavior over and over.
This is a TED talk given to women but applies to everyone.....
For those who hang on to resentments, you might consider doing this forgiveness challenge.....
It's free and has already started but you work at your own pace so, I don't think it's too late to register:
In addition to the above course on forgiveness, there is a free course on 'resiliency' which may be of interest to some. It's also started but I believe you can still register. I think you may have to copy and paste the links as it appears that direct access to links has been disabled on the GC site:

Just stumbled across this & it looks like a very useful tool so giving it a bump! Thanks to the creator, it's a shame there aren't more sticky posts like this!
Vedanta philosophy is a spiritual tradition that aims to unravel the ultimate nature of reality and the self. The origins of Vedanta can be traced back to the ancient Indian scriptures, particularly the Upanishads, which are the culmination of Vedic thought.
