I am now 42 days clean, not placed any bets. It Feels completely liberating knowing everything i earn goes and stays in my pocket.

This hasnt happened through chance, its happened because i have lost everything. My wife found out and now we have separated, nearly forty years old living with my mother seeing my kids 3 times a week.

Let me assure you, everything i have ever cared about i have lost. Dont leave it too late like i did. Yes i am doing well not gambling but the only way i am beat my addiction is through loosing everything.

I hope you get your family back, and you leave the dishonest life you lived... probably 70 percent on this forum have hit rock bottom and thats why they came here... I also lost all my savings in one month betting.. all from chasing losses.. I am still processing how I managed to lose 25K in so short time... its been a year and a half, I relapsed once by losing 450 pounds playing poker... still have some savings, luckily they were on bank account in different country and had no credit card from that account... just one of the saddest memories.. gambling has made me a man with no self respect, a thief a liar.. this has stopped.. please talk to your wife be sincere, hope she gets your pain. best regards

Hi Chalky,

Welcome to the forum and well done for sharing your story with us.

Also congratulations for abstaining for 42 good days! Try and keep it up, and never look back. Even though you said you’ve hit rock bottom, it seems like you are now doing something effective about your gambling problem. I’m glad you feel liberated with your earnings, and hopefully you’d be able to back up your savings again.

Who knows, your wife might consider giving you a second chance if she gets to know you’re getting professional help from Gamcare to overcome your gambling problem, and that you’re serious about stopping gambling all together. Let her know you also need her support to overcome this.

How about contacting our free phone Helpline on: 0808 8020 133, and have a 1 to 1 chat with one of our advisers. Our lines are open everyday from 8.00am to midnight.

Meanwhile, keep reading from the forum, and also keep posting!

Kind regards,

Beatrice
