Hi wp, good to see you made it through boxing day. I can always remember that I was desperate for boxing day to come around....the lack of racing on the previous two days was painful. I would always be sneaking off on boxing day to watch the racing and catch the footie results. Well done again and it's nice to see you back on the boards more regularly. Russ

as always many many thanks for your posts (russ,no incline at all boxing day by the way) just logged in to blow some cobwebs away.

Have been reading and posting bit more frequent lately, due to significant year milestones on diaries(congratulations to curly and shaun),no gambling issues, but things not been so great around the house,so just in case any urges occur i make sure they can't get me by being on here.for longer term readers they always used to strike when i had trouble at home.

I have been following a diary on here with interest,a victim of a comp gambler,i can honestly say that after 2 years bet free,i could well have been the victim ? I am trying to turn my life around but still get my past niggling away at me in petty arguments and its not good for a relationship.

from a compulsive gamblers point of view, when will the trust come back,if ever ?

Anyways enough of my nonsense ranting, after all everyone is on a high with tomorrow being a new year.

For that reason alone, may i wish each and everyone of you a very happy, prosperous and bet free new year.

Today i wont bet,tomorrow i wont bet.

Best wishes,we can do this.

W.P

ps..just found some words that hopefully make more sense...years ago when i was in al anon doing 12 step as an adult child...i did my make amends step 8/9.."make a list of all persons we had harmed and be willing to make amends to them all".....and then make amends.

I did this and my sponsor said "you've missed someone off"

Of course..id missed myself off.

For me to get past where i am at now..I have to be able to forgive myself for not being perfect, for hurting others in my often vile reactions and also to forgive myself for not looking after myself properly...a harder job than forgiving the original problem...i'm not there yet as I am still sick/ill and totally off any programme but I will be.

Once you do that..you draw your own line and the book stops with you.No one can have a hook in you then. If anyone still has an issue about anything it then becomes their problem not yours ..(All this .."in 1992 you said......"..has to stop..)..

I hope that makes sense and that it comes across in the nature intended ...You stopped gambling, you made amends and you still are in recovery and therefore deserve to be trusted in my opinion.

Sometimes we forget to say sorry to ourselves..xxx
