Hello Dan , Firstly I take no pleasure in the fact that your no longer able to post , that's not what any of us would have liked .

I was waiting with baited breath at the opportunity to re engage with you , if that's the right phrase ? , all I ever saw our conversations as was a difference of opinion and a heated debate regarding your views and mine and it was never anything personal , there is no point in me going over old ground regarding recent post's as now there is no way for you to reply.

So I will end there by wishing you well with your continued recovery and hope that at some point in the future , you'll throw down the gauntlet and of course which I will gladly pick up !

Best wishes ............................Alan

A massive Strength and Honor..

Yet, another bizarre gamcare decision.....

So, I guess Dan, proof in the pudding in your theory of what this site's about...

Dan, can it really be true that you've been stopped from posting? How can that possibly be justified? My weary brain just can't make sense of it. I understand that people don't always like what you've got to say and that sometimes your directness offends. And maybe, just maybe, there are times when you overstep the mark. I'm one of the people really trying to dig deep and get to the root of why I do what I do, but when I keep having to go back to day one some of your posts make me think "is he talking about me?"....but I always get where you're coming from and I know that you have a good heart and a genuine desire for people to get well. I also like a bit of banter and am not adverse to the odd joke or two. Most of the people that are upset by your comments are good, decent people and I doubt that they would want you banned from here. And, as Deano has pointed out above, I've long felt that there are many quietly working their own paths and thought processes in privacy away from the forum. Given the nature of some of the nasty comments made to people who do open up (sorry if I'm turning this into a "misery laden" afternoon for anyone) then I can understand why that may be the case. There's only one person who posts truely insensitive remarks which I have found unkind and unhelpful and from posts made today I'm not the only person who feels that way....but I should address that on my own diary.

Many of your posts have helped me. They challenge my thinking, get me questioning and you've given me a few shoves along the way that have been really helpful. This place will be a much poorer place without you, and I'm hoping that the powers that be will see sense. I thought we lived in a democracy with a right to free speech? Maybe you wont want to come back, I could understand that, but really to be blocked? It's an absolute nonsense.

w*f!?

Firstly, am I being stupid, but how do people know he's been banned?

Secondly, if true..again, w*f! IMO Dan has by some considerable distance been the most positive contributor to the forum. It's beyond parody that he would be banned

I must of missed something very short sighted. I hope this is temporary measure but I wouldn't blame dan if he f**k it even if it changed.

Ha ha guess what, haven't thought about gambling once this evening. Thank you for much appreciated support. Reinventing myself after retiring from work, have done so many times before, an exciting and scary prospect which will occupy my mind leaving no space for demons. xxx

Hi Dan
Thanks for your post and glad to hear from you.

I only noticed your post this morning so i'm guessing you're still on moderation. And your post was just 'slotted in'. Sigh. As I'm sure I would've noticed a post from 'Our leader in exile ' ; )

THE 12 MOST COMMON REASONS PEOPLE MESS UP IN RECOVERY.

1.
Believing addiction to gambling is the only problem.

2.
Believing not gambling will fix everything.

3.
Pursuing recovery with less energy than they pursued addiction.

4.
Being selectively honest.

5.
Feeling they are special & unique.

6.
Not making proper amends.

7.
Using the tools they find in recovery to try to become perfect.

8.
Confusing self-concern with selfishness.

9.
Playing futile self improvement games.

10.
Not getting help with relationship problems.

11.
Believing that life should be easy & fair.

12.
Using barriers to handle everything.

Of course not all will apply to each of us, but i can certainly identify with struggling with a few of my misconceptions around how i think about myself & my addiction along the way.

Human imperfection is normal, inhuman perfection probably doesn't exist.
