Hi today is my first time on this or any another site.

I have been gambling on online slotsfor about 2 years. A friend introduced me to a site that he plays on very sensibly. At first I did to and kept winning small amounts. With the occasional quite big win. All seemed too easy! Then after a while came the dreaded losing not a problem bigger bets and bigger winnings. What an idiot I started chasing money using up all my own then taking out credit cards and maxing them out. Properly spent around 25 k. I could afford to loose the money but now have big credit card bills where I can only pay off the minimum.

No one new about my gambling addiction but by chance my wife opened letter from the bank highlighting some overdraft costs.

She wasn't happy and I came clean. We discussed this for three days and I promised that I will get help but she just feels deceived and so she should. Today after 47 years of marriage she left.

Now I am not looking for pity as this was all my fault just advise.

Hope someone may be able to help

Thanks

Bill

Hi bill I'm really sorry to see this. I'm wife of cg. My advise would be online blocks(k9 or Gamban are examples). Restrict your access to finances. Find a GA meeting. Find something else to do to occupy your time. Unfortunately the money is gone and there's no winning it back. Don't underestimate the power of addiction.

Yes I know you're right
I have already blocked sites. I know I have no chance of winning it back. I will keep trying.
Thanks again.

Hi Bill,

Sorry to hear of your gambling issue and the relationship problems.

Can't advise on the relationship side but on the debt management I got signed up with StepChange a while ago.

£60k in debt and found myself unable to pay rent after I'd paid off the minimum instalments on x amount of credit cards and 3 loan repayments. Made me very ill and almost split me and my partner up.

The debts whilst still there get paid off little by little and no interest has been added.

Had a recent gambling binge and found myself here.

Wishing you all the best.

Hi Bill,

Sorry to learn of your partner leaving you. It is any CG worsefear in my opinion. Please dont ever feel that you are alone though reach out to as many people as you can, so many people will rally round and get you through this. Keep talking and use this forum as a way of communication.

Stay strong and keep smiling through this difficult time.

Billy
