In 5 months lost every thing
Split up with love of my life not through gambling
Moved on to brothers sofa
Missed out a once in a life time holiday
And because of sadness lost money gambling to escape reality.
But new year coming and new start.
In jan start a uni degree iam 36 now
I started writing poetry short stories helps express how iam feeling and also channels my energy in to something creative.
Got a few science projects i want to work on, plus stopping smoking and gonna get healthty again.
So after hitting rock bottom and am now going to reach for the stars
Day 8 gamble free
Hi Rob. Welcome to the diary section I look forward to reading more of your poetic words. I enjoyed reading your latest effort.
Well you will be on 9 days now a good start I know it's been a tough Christmas but it will get smoother if you keep away from that gambling.
I'm sure you've read hoe to do that but here goes. Self exclude from wherever you gambled wether it on line or if it's the bookies take your brother with you a some passport photos and go to each bookies. It also worth putting blocking software on all your devices it free I use K9. The easy one is the triangle, time money location remove one you can't gamble do keep busy keep your money you have access to limited.
Good look keep posting and reading I get so much from other stories the positives are great but the bad times remind me of my bad one and I don't want to go back there.
KTF

10 days free
Free indeed! Glad to hear it. T2
11 days free now, focusing on other things study, reading etc
still going strong
Well done mate keep it up!
Day 12 free
13 gamble free days
14 days gamble free ,still no want to gamble, just focusing on other things,
Feeling bit down at the moment about few things.
But i can not dwell in the past and use it as an excuse not to try and improve things
15 days gamble free now
Well done Rob good to see you going strong into the third week.
Other issues are bound to come and hit us but having a bet will only make those worse. Things do change around the bad days get less the good days cone along more often they give you hope but you can't beat the good old average days. Keep going and these will come.
Have you started uni yet? And let's have some more of your poetic words
Hey mate ty for the kind words and support, well done on your progress so far, have started studying for uni my start date is jan 30th.
The storm clouds are starting to clear,
Dispursed by new hopes of the coming year,
Chances of change have opened up to me,
Now i can become the best man i can be,
Challenges and set backs will arise,
To navigate through them i will strive,
I will not run or self destruct,
Even though sometimes it will be tough,
I now have the chance for my dream degree,
Then a physicist i will be,
To look in the mirror i will finally be proud,
I am not a failure i will say out loud,
Smoking will stop and junk food binned,
Back to working out i will begin,
The love i lost was so hard to bare,
But that on my focus cannot impair,
For the experience of love grateful iam,
Never did i think anyone would love this broken man,
Many issues i had but now thats is the past,
Its been a few weeks since my gambling day last,
My new progress and challenges i will update,
Thanks Oldhamktf you have been a massive inspiration mate,
What you have been through would bring many a person down,
But you still fighting and inspiring others around,
Ty i really apreciate that
Cheers for the kind words Rob what a great post to wake up to. That post will inspire me not to gamble today
