I have come extremely close to losing the people I love most through the lies I tell about Gambling. My family support me but my fiance can't deal with the lying anymore which is part of the problem.
I have decided enough is enough and will look to record my daily progress on here in order to beat gambling. I have a good job and shouldn't need the money, so that isn't where the desire comes from. I think it's the rush of placing the bet and the adrenaline of watching a football match once the bet is placed.
I have been able to lie about it too easily, and the one thing that worries me is I could place a bet and then post a lie on here just to make it seem I'm recovering.
Hopefully through one to one counselling and regular contact on the forum I wo't have to tell lies and can beat the addiction day by day.
I last bet on Saturday, and will have my first one to one next week. Today I felt the urge to bet on tonights football matches, but instead I suspended any remaining accounts and set up an account on here instead. Which is a big step after 4 months of gambling without seeking help and hurting the people I love. Hopefully I will be posting positive diary entries daily in order to recover.
Hi joe and welcome aboard,
It takes a lot of courage to come on here and admit you have a big problem, and being honest about your feelings,
You have already took steps for counsilling , so you know how serious this addiction is.
There is a lot of support on here from like minded folk, because we are all in the same situation, we are addicted to gambling, we are CGs who all want to stay in recovery.
I think the rush to play for you is the addiction in full force giving you the ullusion that is is fun, and a big adrenline Rush to play, the addiction is the only thing getting the big rush, it wants to bleed you dry.
I wish you the very best on your recovery,
I hope your counsilling goes well,
Best wishes
