d**n just typed a great long thread and before I could finish it my wife came into the room unexpected and asked what I was looking at on the pc and came over to have a look. Had to close the page down just in time before she saw what I was doing. Thought she was still upstairs putting our little man to bed. After 79 days gamble free I wish I was ready to tell her I'm a recovering gambling addict but I'm just not. Need to put much more time between me and gambling before I'm ready. One day.

Anyway off out to see an old friend for a catch up tonight so haven't got time to retype again.

Hope everyone is doing well and has had a good start to their week. Best wishes.

G

Hello mate, firstly well done on day 79,

I know how hard it is when the other half is around too, and I've always got to clear my history on my I pad as she uses it too lol, I too will tell my partner about the past but when I'm ready but not just yet, I don't see myself as a gambler now, I read through the new members bit and think things aren't that bad when you read some of the posts,

All the best mate

Hi G, better to be hiding gamcare posts than betting sites and how much money you have lost.

I know how ho you feel though, when the time is right you will be able to tell her.

On another point, what do you think has happened to the bear ? seems we may have lost him 🙁 when i came on here i looed up to him and yourself wishing i could be as strong as you both, great pity if he is back in the grip of his demons. Sickening thing is that a reformed gambler once told me, even if you are winning they are only betting tokens because sooner or later you will lose everything again. You never really win, it really is just tokens for the next time you go online or into the betting shop. Anyhow G, hope your evening was great with your old friend and have a great week. All the best DP /

Thanks DP as always.

Today I won't be gambling. Why? Well many reasons now.

I don't need it, my family doesn't need the fallout from it, my bank balance doesn't need it, my mind doesn't need it.

I do not have a single reason to gamble any more. What to win money? Don't make me laugh. If that was the case do you think I'd be on this site. For pleasure? Don't make me laugh. It has brought nothing but misery to my life for over 20 years. To be sociable? Don't make me laugh. At my worst I spent hours and hours cooped up in my front room not answering the phone as I plundered thousands to the heartless thieving bast**ds and their online casinos.

NOW I have a life. Ever since I turned my back and walked away I have started to live again. Gamble, Today? I don't think so. You think I spent nearly 80 days quitting and posting my thoughts to my wonderful Gamcare family to go back now. Not a chance. Goodbye gambling gods. I wave my private parts at your aunties( thanks Python for that one). Two fingers to the gambling gods.

Everyone reading this has to put two fingers up and say scr*w you gambling gods. Make yourself that bit stronger than them if only for a moment.

Best wishes family

G

G.

Mr g. Fella you are doing something truly amazing by taking the life you had handed to gambling back into your own hands.

I did win because i did stop.

There is an irony in that,as for us the compulsive gambler we really do win through abstinence.

We seem to find a wonderful focus and set out to achieve more. Maybe we make up for lost time.

Through it, honesty and self respect return in abundance.

You my friend are doing an amazing job of it.

When the time is right share it with your wife, your diary is an a part of you. A great part, something to be proud of.

Just for today keep enjoying recovery.

Just for today be proud.

Just for today, you better your tomorrow by using those three marvelous words.

NO BET TODAY.

Duncs stepping forward never back.

Wow G. In my times of urge I will remember what you said - at the time rationality tends to go out the window but having read your post I too feel stronger - and I am so grateful to you.

Thanks once again and all the best x

Is this how aversion therapy works?

I now have a picture of this guy standing outside a betting shop frantically waving his private parts.

Actually might just have the opposite effect - oops.

Excellent post sadG, truly inspiring for us fellow gamcare members if the urge to gamble suddenly arises. I actually feel even more motivated to never gamble again after reading that post of yours - what a great start to the day for me. Thanks.

Day 83

Off to work. Looking forward to getting home tonight. Guitar practise and abs workout on the agenda plus a programme I recorded last night to watch about creating a bionic man which looked interesting. Off to White Hart Lane tomorrow lunchtime to watch the mighty Spurs hopefully beat Newcastle, few beers after with my mate. Might actually tell him about this site. Been meaning to tell him for some time. Then Sunday/Monday/Tuesday with my wife and kids. No time or inclination to gamble. My mate will bet on the football tomorrow. Always bets on first goalscorer. Me, I'll just watch the game gamble free. No problemo!

Have a fantastic weekend everyone. You are amazing people!
