Hi all 146 days gamble free. Good wk end, my football team won for the first time in about a month, and over indulged quite a bit so y day was a bit hairy, fry for lunch followed by Chinese for dinner, (great way to lose weight NOT!)
So back on to the healthy eating etc this week.
Thanks for all your comments, just recently put that photo up , thats my youngest boy, Odaat. Hes a wee character.
Just taking it a day at a time, keep strong all.
Morning Gav,
Thanks for your post.
Lovely pic of your youngest, and 146 days gamble free, fantastic going,
One day at a time is the sure way forwards to keep winning and starving that horrible addiction.
Have a good gambling free day.
Suzanne xx
Hi gav,
thanks for the encouragement and well done on changing your situation around.
Someone told me that the mistake a lot of people make (and then get downhearted) is that we look at how far we still have to go instead of looking how far we have already come.
It's obvious from reading your diary you've come a long way.
The protest was a massive success numbers wise. Unfortunately out calls are falling in the deaf ears of politicians detached from the reality of the ordinary working Irish family.
The campaign will continue though. A countries water supply should not be handed over to a private company.
Best wishes gav. Be proud.
Seriously, he is literally making me smile my head off, not in a stalker way though (obviously)! Or is it, eek, I just scrolled up the page to say Hi to him again :-0
Thank you for your comment in my diary xx well done on your 146 day xx
Morning all and thanks for the comments!
Nothing really new to report, 154 days gamble free now, no real urges or temptations. Finances going quite well and all being well should hopefully be debt free by the end of this month and then begin to save again! I know this can be dangerous, with past thought processes thinking, sure you've got a few quid behind you now, its ok to try quid! Dangerous dangerous territory and something to guard against.
The thought of not gambling again scared the living wits out of me years ago, but now I can deal with it, accepting that I cant gamble like any normal gambler, I have no control over it, it controls me. I cannot win as I cannot stop.
I got a new current account last week so got a new card sent out, with my past card i scratched the back 3 cvv numbers out as i gambling online at the time. With my new card I havent done that yet, infact i havent even opened the letter which i know its in, i feel a lot more comfortable with myself, but i still dont trust myself with the new card with the number intact.
Something I'll have to decide on soon.
Keep strong all.
Ha, I might have known you wouldn't disappoint me 😉
Scary times ahead for you but I don't think you are in the same place that you were! Whether the envelope is open or not, you still have the card in your possession & you are still choosing 'No'! Last week's 'antics' were yet another turning point for me, having fun with 'complete strangers' just made me more angry that I had allowed the addiction to control me for so very long! Hopefully since you are hot on my heels dayswise, the balance will shift for you too & instead of just knowing you can't have another bet, you won't want to have one!
Don't open the envelope until you are truely ready...You will know when it is time! I hope you get the feeling of pride I got when I first got my card back & none of the urges which to be fair, came hard & fast but were nothing I couldn't handle!
Look after you, look after your golf balls - ODAAT
Hi gav, thanks for your message and ongoing support.
Hey look at you 154 days of winning, and feeling strong.
You do right my friend not to open that envelope until you are ready, as ODAAT said you will know,
Take care, stay safe and stay strong.

This is a long absence even for you! Getting ever closer to the end of the month now, I hope you are staying strong - ODAAT
Hi all , im pleased to report 168 days gamble free!
Thanks for looking out for me folks, i've been wiped out by a chest infection the last few weeks, knocked me for 6, finally got some anti biotics and pain killers from my gp and i've buggered my ribs from coughing so much.
Was off work for while so trying to get caught up with that. Noticed a few folk havent been on in quite a while, Fallenman being one of them. I hope hes at a good place,
Nothing really new apart from buying some things that didnt really need bought but i went ahead and done it ! Im very impulsive, so im still be in a bit of debt which would have been wiped out by the end of this month. This month I've decided no more big purchases, no impulse buys.
Plan to stay in wk end s and cook some nice dinners and watch some good films. That and do stuff with the kids without empyting the bank.
Things so so at home, wife exhausted and shes the only one that escaped the illness and both boys up most nights, think everyone is pretty knackered.
Anyway im back , and i;ll try and catch up with all ur diaries.
Keep strong!
Thanks for checking in on me, very kind of you gav.
The "one day at a time" approach has worked wonders for me.
I don't feel like I'm smothered by addiction anymore. I take my recovery extremely seriously. It's all about abstinence for me.
Simple as this. If I don't gamble my life is managable. I have not gambled in nearly 11 months and I've only got there by abstaining 1 day at a time.
I hope you feel better soon and congratulations on your continued abstinence. You are changing your future for the better every day you don't gamble.
Best wishes,
john
