Hi Mark, ive been reading your story (as part of my recovery is reading other peoples gambling problems - makes you feel you are not alone) . I think (and dismiss this as tosh if u wish) that you have a need for your endorphins to be driven upwards on a daily basis to give you some happiness each day (reading a period drama or watching eastenders is not enough !!) . You like to live life close to the edge (as I have done for the past 7 years), but at what expense?. You have a family all living in one home (i guess they need you for bread and butter on the table ?) YOU NEED TO CONSIDER THAT (not gonna bore you with my issues as the purpose of this thread is too help u and your family) Read this carefully no criticism meant.

Hi Mark and thanks for your support.

Sorry to hear that you have slipped up to... but it does sound like you are determined to get back on track.

For me I hate living on the edge, its aging me. My hair isn't going grey its going white! I just hope the George clooney look is still in fashion 🙂

As for counting the days gamble free. I have always been a prolific counter and each time ive relapsed ive said I won't count anymore and then end up counting again. I think for many its a good motivator in the early days but for me after all these years of trying to stay stopped I think its time to stop counting and just note the milestones as they come and go.

All the best with your on-going journey. I will be reading with interest. Regards.. S.A

Hi Mark,

I read a huge amount on gambling addiction and it got through to me just like that article has got through to you. Well done for not going on a spiral out of control. Would you consider one session of hypnotherapy? It works on your subconscious to change your thought pattern. I found it excellent . You have learned from your slip. That's the important thing here. You will be stronger on this tough journey. Be kind to yourself ,

Suzy
