Many thanks for the update Mixer.

As you so rightly point out, the awful events described on the reddit website are very disturbing and the appallingly bad human behaviour which was examined is downright repulsive.

It reminded me also that compulsive g--blers can sometimes seem to suffer from memory loss and conveniently forget the horrendous suffering that g--bling has wrought upon them and their loved ones.

It never fails to amaze me how someone can lose their family, jobs, home, savings, friends and self respect because of their addiction to g--bling and than as bold as brass announce that they like g--mbling.

What amazes me even more than that is that I am here writing this when I have been as guilty as anyone at glossing over the filth of compulsive g--bling.

I know better now.

well written Stephen and as I know u well for a long time now I know you wont mind me saying how many times weve hi our rock bottoms and how many times weve said enough is enough!!!!!! and I pray that this is the start of something great.  The peace in our minds will be great and well earned if we just dismiss that gambling thought that pops into our minds once a week (at times when we used to gamble).  Even today I thought poker tonight then remembered no I don't do that now then thought why not, it just creeps back in ntill you put the common sense practical head back on.  So at the moment Stephen we are on training wheels and are balancing well gaining speed every week.  After the hundred days I feel we will not fall over but I feel it will take the whole 100 days to gain the speed.  Im rambling but I really don't want you to look back and think for too long about gambling at the moment Stephen just dismiss it and enjoy the rest of youre day, you deserve it mate.

Hi Stephen,

I fully agree with you, some of the stories on this site really shook me and I thought I had pretty much seen everything.  It just goes to show how dehumanising g***ling can be.  At as you say, whilst we haven't dipped to such behaviours it's all only a question of scale and time.

This is a bus that we have gotten off, Stephen - and never want to go back onto again.  One day at a time, off that evil bus, and onto the infinitely superior coach of life.

It's comfortable, safe and reinforced so that if we do happen to get into some heavy traffic, we're in the right place to deal with it.

Whenever I feel a weak moment, and I'm sure these will occur, I will revisit that Reddit thread.  Like you, it really made me, um, think.

We're on the same page on this one for sure, and I'm sure all of us in our '100 club' would feel the same.

By the way, delighted you've bought a nice foot spa, Stephen.  This is what it's all about!  Daring to treat ourselves now and then.  Brilliant!  Hell yeah!

For tomorrrow, everyone!

"Just for today, I choose to not to go down the wrong path. What is the point of doing that - no point whatsoever. Instead, I choose life."

Let's keep the faith everyone 🙂

Danpo - haven't heard from you for a couple of days; missing your lively and entertaining e-mails truth be told! I hope you're Ok mate 🙂

Thanks for those kind words Adam; my view is that it is all of us that makes this 100 day club, whether we actively participate with posts or not - we're all here, altogether.  Some people might not think we're asking for much - a life how it's meant to be lived - yet, to us, it's the world.

Let's keep going Adam, day by day, with that resolve we're all building up.

Loved your update on Chat tonight by the way - a great move there.  Really good thinking 🙂

I have not had the (mis) fortune of reading the Reddit site and I am  not sure I need to.

Adam, I love your training wheel analogy. It does feel like setting off for the first ever ride on a bike but with that steadying hand on my back. That is what this forum and community is all about.

Hi Murlo, the thread is distressing and so I really would exercise with caution.

If in any doubt, I wouldn't.

And agreed, Adam's analogy is a really good one.

P.S. Nice new hairstyle by the way 🙂 !!!!

*** Good afternoon! ***

Here's my thought of the day.

"Some of the most comforting words in the universe are "me too".  That moment when you find out that your struggle is also someone else's struggle, that you're not alone, and that others have been down the same road."

Hi there, how are you doing today?  I hope all is well, or as well it can be.  However it's going will be better managed and better enjoyed when compared to you-know-what.  Because, day-by-day, not only are we choosing to stop but we're also developing ourselves, becoming better people.

G****ling drags us below par; we are now getting back to par, and who knows, maybe beyond it. After all, recognising the path we've trodden is undoubtedly making us better equipped physically, mentally and spiritually for the journey ahead, and so why not?

Here's our progress; do let us know how you're getting along - do drop us a post!  You'll get a reply, every time!

Murlo - very glad Mr Murlo approves, great to hear!  And equally great to hear, 65 days g***ling free under your belt.  A 'double whammy' in the best way possible!

Great update Mixer. I imagine that your thought of the day could make people think and bring hope to those who are suffering through addiction.

I am certainly missing Danpo's heartwarming contributions to the 100 Day Club and hope that you are keeping well Danpo.

*** Good evening! ***

Let's always remember: "Any win is never enough."

As (recovering) compulsive g***lers, we always carry on till, inevitably, we lose.  And then (inevitably) , we lose more.  That's why we mustn't start.

***

Stephen - thank you for your kind words.  And, like you, I'm missing Dunpo.  Dunpo - if you've fallen off the wagon, jump straight onto it again.  We're here, and we all know this isn't easy.  We'll support  you - whatever it is.  Always unconditional, always there.

And I likewise salute the great Dame Shirley Bassey!

Lewis - you've made a great start and we're with you all the way in this journey you've wisely undertaken.  It's great to have you aboard; keep going, my friend.  It's for the best!

How are we doing, team?  And we are a team, shoulder-to-shoulder doing the right thing for us and our loved ones.  Let's keep it going, one life-affirming day at a time.

Hi everyone. Been a busy few weeks with Christmas and New year. Hope you are all doing well.

I've been keeping busy with work and family commitments. Still can believe how long I've been staying G******* free. Not long now to 100 days and then who knows how many more 100s. I've been looking for a new Job for a while and i might have found one that gives me a better balance in life. I hope i get it. All the best to everyone.

Greetings to all members of the 100 Day Club.

I have been reflecting on all the gamcare legends who have remained g---ble free for long periods of time and it has made me feel good inside.

At midnight I shall be arriving at 70 Days GF and will go onto my balcony and look up at the night sky for guidance and inspiration.

I am hoping that the stars will rearrange themselves to spell ... S T E P H E N   R O C K S ...but maybe that is asking for too much.

But you never know!

Its a funny old world!
