5 WEEKS today ....had a few urges yesterday when my husbands debit card was lying on the table, but resisted as I really do not want to get back into self destruction mode again ever. I think the best thing about stopping for a while is it gives you the strength to have a choice, you can choose not to gamble, when you are in the grip, there is absolutely no choice. does that make sense. When you become stronger and start doing the right thing it feels good. sorry waffling...be back later........

Hi Maddie

You are doing so well!!

I think you are right when you say about being able to make a choice now you are abstaing from gambling. When we were in the depths of this addiction we simply couldnt make a choice there was no choice the only choice was where to get money from and in the end even that wasnt a choice! it was a decission taken whilst our minds were not logical. Now after abstaining we have gained so much information and advice from others that we have the ability to step back, take a breath and then make an empowered descision once again been able to use our judgement of whats right and wrong. You have proved to yourself you can do it - the debit card would have beeh enough to send me on that downward spiral before, i think you would have succumbed to the temptation before but not anymore!! well done!!

we can do it and we are going to!!

kindest regards

linda x

Hey Maddie,

Just wished to pass on my congrats on keeping away from the gambling for five weeks, and hope you can continue making those choices to stay away.

The choices I see not gambling never seemed to be choices at all when I had the urge in my head, and I was a zombie before the screen.

All the best,

Ryan

Hi Maddie21

How are you?

Good luck with the interview tomorrow. I had to take on an extra job to cover my debt, hard work but needs must, that's what's stopping me from gambling the thought of having to pay it all back, working hard to do so, and having nothing for myself all summer.

Well done on restraining yourself with the credit card, mine tempts me every now and again, but the thought of having to pay it back makes me say no!!!!!

Stay strong.

Best Wishes

Celia

well i think it went quite well actually! It is always difficult to judge totally, but this job is exactly what I can do, and also have the experience of implementing the CRM system that this company are currently purchasing, surely the other 3 candidates wont have that :o) It is about 20 mins from home, they have promised to let me know by Friday if I have a 2nd interview next week. All digits crossed!!

Gambling urges reared there head this morning, I guess because I was under pressure with the interview, but I didnt give in. So patting myself on the back for that small triumph.

hope everyone else is having a good day.....

Maddie,

All digits crossed for you too! stress makes me think of gambling, so does loneliness, boredom, money anything really! but am now getting to grips with chaging my thoughts! i read somewhere about wearing your watch on the opposite arm as it breaks your pattern of thought! i have been doing it since friday I am not sure if it helps with the gambling but it does does change your pattern of thought now i look at my wrist and think wheres my bloody watch lol!!

Keep up the good work and together we will be gambling free!

take care

Linda x

Hey Maddie,

Fingers crossed for tomorrow for you, hopefully it'll be the right call, and well done for overcoming the temptation, everytime you do you're beating the bookie.
