Steve

Good idea m8 to get out and enjoy yourself on your birthday. Its good to see you are eating into your debt ,but it doesnt have to be all work and no play.Nevertheless kid a great motivation is the debt disappearing.I would say them solicitors are taking a big chunk of your money though Steve. You are doing excellent in the gambling department kid Keep it up Jeff.

When I lived in Leeds we used to play golf at a local course where breaking 100 was seen as a good round so 97 seems great to me mate.

Is'nt it funny how things seem better when your every thought is not about gambling.

All the best

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the support. Having a mixed time of it at the moment. One day i'm ok then the next i'm a bit down. Probably because i'm spending all my spare time at the bloody solicitors. Stumper, put a really funny yet true saying on my diary some weeks ago 'I CANNOT LOSE BECAUSE MY SOLICITOR SAYS SO'. How true!!! Can't wait for the whole episode to be over. Should be soon with some luck.

I have had more than usual urges over the last few days, but have been ok with dealing with them (I mostly come on here, even if I don't post, the time spent gets me through the urge). Went to the gym tonight for the first time in a week or so, I should go more often because it does make me feel better (apart from the obvious aches and pains).

It's amazing what you can learn from kids isn't it. I was looking after my 6 yo nephew today and he was looking at pictures of my dad(who died in January) on the wall and simply said " I get sad when I look at pictures of Grandad because he can't play with me anymore, but then I think of the times that we played together and that makes me happy". Out of the mouths of babes hey!!

Hope all is well with everyone else.

Stay Strong

Steve

Hi Steve,

Thank you so much for the fantastic post on my diary! I can't tell you how much i've been worrying about it and how muc effort i gave it but that post has made me feel a lot better, if i don't get it i should just learn from it for next time! Really appreciate the support!

Glad to see your recovery is still going really well. I think it gets a lot harder the further down the path of recovery you go in that urges seem to take you by suprise. Its like the one you mentioned in a while ago about walking past 5 bookies but wanting to go in the sixth. Since having relapse it doesn't seem that long ago since i had that horrible feeling that gambling gives you so its still quite fresh in my mind but i know when i get further down the road to recovery i will need to stay on the ball.

Great to see you can still watch sports and enjoy it as a hobby instead of what the best bets to put on are. Anyway mate, thanks again for the support feel a lot better and well done on your recovery so far!

Keep strong

Jimmy

Hi Steve,it is amazing what kids come out with....,i wish we could mantain that innocence throughout our lives!!!.Sorry to read that your having a few urges nowadays,i guess the extra pressure with the divorce at the moment isn't helping, the main thing though is that you haven't given in,and your coming on here and reading stuff to get you through.Things will get better and the urges will get less again soon.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the post and your kind words. It means a lot.

Cahill signing for life might be a bad thing as i cannot see him still having the spring in his legs at 85. Still the thought of him heading in a winner at Anfield and wheeling away on his walking stick before giving the corner flag a bash with it has got me chuckling!

LOST is coming to an end. I think maybe Jack will be last man standing! Where is Ben hiding? Surely he will have a part to play the bog eyed fiend!

Keep up the good work Steve and thanks again for the post.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your kind posts, they really do mean a lot.

Just a quick report really, to say i'm still gamble-free and looking forward to staying that way. I decided earlier in the week that I need to start rebuilding my life now and start making goals.

So here they are:

1/ STAY GAMBLE-FREE!!!

2/ Start saving for a new place to live.

3/ Try to learn Spanish.

4/ Learn to play the guitar.

5/ Train to run a 10km charity race by the

end of the year.

I'm hoping by putting it on here, that it will motivate me to do them.

Gonna be gutted when Lost finishes. My bet is that Sawyer will end up being the hero.

And finally, Well done to the England cricket team for a mauling of the Aussies, very sweet to watch!!

Stay Strong

Steve

Hi Steve,

I'm giving it another shot mate and this time it is for keeps.

It's great to see you doing so well.

I'll set you a new target to go with the ones you have set above. Knock it round your local golf course in under 90.

I'll give you until the end of August on that one.

Hi All,

Thanks for the posts.

Had a good day today. I managed to get a backlog of work done which I really needed to do. Also managed to get to the gym after work, which is a good start towards my 10km aim. No gambling in mind.

I'll accept the 6th aim from Curly (great to see ya doing a diary mate). Hopefully will get a round in this week if i'm lucky.

Stay Strong

Steve

Hey Steve,

It sounds like you've properly turned a corner, setting goals to work for like you have are real motivators, though when I do I tend to find myself more on the couch than my good intentions intended.

Good luck with the running, I can say for certain that I'm happy it's you not me! For a start on the guitar, Oasis and the s*x Pistols are fairly good (and easier) noisemakers if you need somewhere to start!

Keep it up mate,

Ryan
