Thanks once again folks x (hangover gone lol)

Day 64

What a difference a day makes! Why, why, why every time I feel like I'm getting somewhere, does something else rubbish happen??????

Arghhhhhh!

Today Paddy's wee pal (my sister's dog) had to have a massive lump removed from her mouth- vet thinks it may be cancerous. Sis has spent today in tears. I realise this may sound crazy to folk who don't have pets, but so sad and a massive blow to my family. Just awaiting histology/pathology results.

Another CC statement in the post- reminding me not only of how much I owe, but how much I've squandered on gambling (I only prev counted the total owed).

Stuff going on with my son too, which I'm not going to share here cos its not really my business. Suffice to say, I'm wondering if his gf may be hampering his career chances. Time for him to do a +/- and make a decision- I hope its the right one for him/them.

On a good note, been too busy to think about gambling 🙂

Thanks folks x

Day 65

Think I had a wee dose of the "poor me" yesterday!

Progress-:

Still don't know if Paddy's pal has cancer- but she's doing great after her op and sister's stopped crying.

CC statement's in the bin- I don't need reminded about the past, I'm dealing with it!!

Son's made his decision- I hope it's the right one for him. I've been biting my tongue, trying so hard not to interfere!!!!

Forgot to note yesteday- my buddy cancelled badminton.

Today's decision- do I try to stop smoking or not??? A purely financial decision. If I don't buy more cigs, I could pay that money towards my debt (or get my hair done Monday!!) Kinda made up my mind to try- phoned a smoking cessation service today. Their groups start next week. Seems a bit bonkers paying almost £8 per day to get sick.............

Hopefully, back to solid turf mood wise- thank goodness for this space to offload 🙂

Btw- gamble free!!!

HI Irene,

Good luck with the no smoking, I gave up in august last year have had the odd slip but not gone back and 3 cigs in 6 months is pretty good going for someone who has smoked for years.

Not only will your bank balance benefit but like you say your health will improve ten fold.

I used the electronic cigs for a while but now just chew the odd nicorett gum.

I tried to treat it like gambling, i.e just for today i wont smoke i can kill myself tomorrow and waste all my money if i want but today I decided not to do that.

Best wishes with it.

Take care

Good on you for tackling the ciggies aswell as everything else going on...sounds like a big new year clear out with all things that have held you back now going so you can move forward.

not wanting to be a bad influence ...but us ladies need to look our best too whilst we are recovering,...maybe book that hair appointment...you're worth it!

Irene

glad to read things are getting back on an even keel.

As for smoking, i used to smoke a good twenty a day and through my recovery i quit the cigarettes back in February last year.

The money is better spent elsewhere. Without doubt.

If you do decide to give it a go, my advice get all the help that's out there. I used the nicotine gum for three months, now i just chew regular gum.

And as Blondie said just for today i won't smoke.

Enjoy the money i do, fifty odd quid a week !!

Duncs stepping forward never back.

Hi Irene

Good to see you are doing well. and hope paddy is fine to?

I would try to stop smoking it only kills you slowly.

Thing of it as give up gambling one day at a time.

Or you can make it your new years reslotion.

Thanks everyone! Although I was kinda hoping that someone would tell me to keep smoking lol.

Day 66 gamble free/ 7 hours smoke free!

I saw a smoking cessation advisor today. Got "patched up" and now on a programme to stop! As I said yesterday, I know all the health risks etc but I do love a ciggie and my main motivation to stop is financial- seems a bit crazy to work hard to pay debts off for years and spend £250/month on cancer sticks.

I am a wee bit wary of planning/making big changes atm. My immediate goals did not include stopping smoking at this time. I wonder if this is the right time? My moods just stabilising after the rollercoaster of the past few weeks- can I cope without cigs? ................emmm now I'm just thinking of excuses to put of the inevitable- I need to stop- full stop!

Gamble urges/ thoughts have been minimal except to try and work out how some of the diversion/coping tools I've been using can be transferred to smoking urges.

Bring on tomorrow 🙂

Appointment for hair booked - so I can't smoke 🙂
