I have been with gamcare for around 7 months now I am an active gambling addict but stopped on March 27th 2024 at 20.28 hours. not a penny has went to the bookies since .my story is a bit strange I was on and off gambling for around 40 years when I was happy it would stop for years .then around 6 years ago it came back with a vengeance were I lost many thousands of pounds my physical health and mental health which I take full accountability for I should have asked for help but alas I didn't. I don't blame anyone or anything .I did it to myself. oh it was embarassing at the time being.lauded all over the rail network and in the rail network press social media and the samaritans
as some kind of hero.having physically restrained 4 people from committing suicide .but to me it didn't feel.any different a day that's what had to be done .but horrendously the gambling addiction kicked in big time it was a form.of escapism to get back to the simple life .how wrong was I though it led to total destruction one phone call. away from being homeless due to.large debts.thankfully I'm now at peace now due to many sessions of cbt through the rail network and also full committal to stop gambling helped by the gamcare staff .if anyone is struggling through mental health issues please reach out its not a sign of weakness it's a virtue of strength without these people helping through their kind interventions the world would be a very lonely and dark place peace always
