The Gambling Commission is currently considering whether to ban the use of credit cards for gambling, or to introduce controls and limits on the use of credit cards for gambling. Find out more, and how to respond to their consultation, at our website:
yep this should be in place, very unethical letting people get into trouble
Decades too late but its something that needs to be made law. At the very least obvious borrowing to gamble should be prohibited.
Its going to be hard if not impossible to monitor cash withdrawals but I feel a red flag should be raised when looking at regular cash withdrawals that cant be explained.
If you are borrowing someones money I feel there should be an explanation process for worrying transactions. In the main you dont need cash out on credit cards
Ok Im not trying to censor peoples legitimate freedom with money but far more could be done to help protect addicts
Best wishes to everyone on the forum
I wish this had been done 20 years ago, I may have not found the path I did with gambling if I'd always had to use cash only. Credit is evil in it's effects and use. That goes for other areas as well as gambling. At least doing this now makes me happier for my own children and their possible choices.
Me too john. I withdrew 1000s off a credit card what do I have to show for it.......debt
Well it's better late than never
This should've done along time ago hopefully with this new lords gambling report helps more people from getting in financial difficulties using credit then struggling to pay it back causing an increase in mental health problems. What other industry is left to do what they see fit like the gambling company's. I believe that an ombudsmen should be put in this sector at least then it's an independent voice
Affected by gambling?
