Hello all!

I registered with Gamstop after years of Gambling and thought what a brilliant idea this is.

All my accounts were closed and I've been refused to open an account with any online betting sites that serve the UK.

Until yesterday.... That green monster appeared and somehow I was allowed to register with Evoke Gaming Ltd Redbet site to my surprise as they are listed as a participating Company with Gamstop.

I was allowed to deposit £310 in 4 amounts and was playing for about 2 hours to the point where I had a £313 win single on an in running live tennis match. Half way through this match I was locked out so I spoke to someone on chat and they asked me if I'm registered with Gamstop which I told the truth and said I was. She then told me I cannot access my account anymore, so I asked what about the bet? She said the bet stands however because I'm registered with Gamstop should the bet win I'll just recieve a refund however if it loses I'll get nothing back. So I argued those terms and asked them to just cancel the bet and refund me. They delayed and delayed then came back and said if the bet wins I shall be paid out the winnings also as they have a way of doing it this way! Again I said I'm not interested I just want the bet cashing out and refunding. They blamed Gamstop for this and have told me to take it up with them as it is not their problen at all. She also said that I can't be regustered with Gamstop as the site security would not let me join. Basically calling me a liar however knowing that I'm registered hence locking my account.

The way they have handled this is disgusting and what is the point in saying you are participating in Gamstop if you are still willing to take bets off those persons registered.

How do I go about making a complaint about them officially? They have just said blame Gamstop and it's not our problem.

To be frank, there's a bit of culpability all round. Gamstop is a fledging service, so there are going to be some teething troubles. Gamstop needs to check its systems, to ensure it sent the necessary info to the casino. The online casino needs to make sure its systems are correctly processing that info and ready to block the Gamstop customer.

And thirdly, the Gamstop customer should not be trying to register anyway. There is a 'contract' here and the customer has to do his or her's part.

It has to be said. We ALL have a responsibilty here. Just my personal view.

I agree Mixer. Ultimately it needs to be down to the individual to really want to stop gambling. I’ve tried to stop many times before so I know it is not easy, however since joining GAMSTOP I haven’t even tried to access an online account. To me that says that I am ready to finally give up. If you are not ready a compulsive gambler will always find a way and will blame someone else. Good luck all.

Recovery from a progressive addiction can be frought with danger and many complicated paths. I wish it was always down to the individual as that would make it easier, but i will say that in any illness honesty is important.

If anyone is truely struggling and can't find a path forward, don't give up. Keep looking for hope and remember even those worst off can find a way.

I have same problem.

Anyone has any solution?

By and large it seems to work to me.

I had some marketing emails from one operator and I just forwarded them to gambling commision as a complaint.

I'd just complain to the gambling commision. You won't get any money back, but hopefully the operator will get a smack on the knuckles or a fine & improve their systems.

I honestly think bookmakers hate self exclusion - it deprives them of their best customers.
